About Watershed

Watershed is a leading sustainability platform that helps major companies like Airbnb, FedEx, Visa, Carlyle Group, and Dr. Martens track and manage their climate and ESG data. Our tools make it easy to generate accurate, audit-ready reports for regulations like CSRD and take real action toward reducing carbon emissions.

We’re a mission-driven startup that values collaboration, innovation, and excellence. If you’re passionate about building meaningful products and want to help shape the future of sustainability, we’d love for you to join our team.

Watershed has offices in San Francisco, New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Sydney, and Mexico City, with remote team members across the US and Europe.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Technical Writer to manage and improve our product documentation. You’ll take ownership of our customer-facing knowledge base — creating, updating, and organizing content that helps users understand and use our products with ease.

You’ll work closely with Product, Customer Education, Content Design, and Support teams to make sure our documentation is accurate, helpful, and aligned with our product strategy and content standards.

What You’ll Do

  1. Write clear, easy-to-follow product documentation for new product and feature launches.
  2. Manage and update Watershed’s knowledge base (200+ articles) to keep content accurate and user-friendly.
  3. Learn about new product releases and create guidance materials for customers.
  4. Review and improve existing articles to ensure clarity, quality, and consistency.
  5. Add FAQs or support details in collaboration with the Support team.
  6. Contribute to our content strategy, ensuring documentation stays well-organized and consistent.
  7. Write, edit, and publish content directly in our content management system (CMS).

What We’re Looking For

  1. 5+ years of experience writing technical documentation for software products.
  2. Ability to explain complex ideas simply for non-technical readers.
  3. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  4. Experience shaping content strategy and organizing large content libraries.
  5. Comfortable working directly in a CMS and improving documentation tools and processes.
  6. Collaborative, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  7. Must be able to work on-site 4 days a week (except for remote-eligible roles).

Work Locations

We have hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City, plus satellite offices in Sydney, Paris, and Berlin.

Employees in these locations are expected to work in the office 4 days per week. Remote roles are clearly listed on our jobs page when available.

Our Interview Process

We like to keep things simple and transparent.

  1. First, you’ll have 1–2 conversations with our team to learn about Watershed, your experience, and your goals.
  2. Next steps depend on the role — for example:
  3. Skill-based interview (e.g., coding for engineers or portfolio review for designers)
  4. Panel interview (virtual or in-person)
  5. We make sure you know what to expect at every step.

Accessibility and Accommodations

Watershed is committed to an inclusive hiring process. If you need accommodations due to a disability, long-term condition, neurodivergence, pregnancy, mental health need, or religious observance, please let your recruiter know. We’ll ensure you get the support you need.
