Brief Description:  

 

The Systems Engineer role is responsible for support and escalation of incidents and requests. This role primarily focuses on escalated incident handling of customer support issues and project implementation. The Systems Engineer must be able to implement and support the technologies we service at the highest level. The ideal candidate will be deeply familiar with majority of technologies used in our client’s environments as well as line-of-business applications.   

  

This role requires exceptional communication and social skills to make the end user feel comfortable and at ease in stressful situations.   

 

   Responsibilities:  

 

  • Provide final point of escalation for the most difficult support cases to our clients
  • Provide implementation support and/or lead client projects   
  • Provides work direction, problem resolution, and training to other technical support personnel  
  • Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all actions taken, relevant research articles, software/hardware information as well as the final resolution 
  • Prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines 
  • Maintain and update support and project documentation 
  • Use “out of the box” thinking to solve the most complex technical issues 
  • Communicate with various companies and/or client stakeholders to ensure the client is receiving the top level of Service
  • Ownership of tasks and follow-through to ensure resolution 
  • Participate in the escalation on-call rotation 

 

  Qualifications:  

 

  • A minimum of 3 years IT experience  
  • Ability and willingness to work in an environment providing 24x7x365 support  
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment  
  • Strong interpersonal skills including phone manners, written communication and client-care  
  • Is self-motivated and can be self-directed when necessary  
  • Ability and willingness to work with a team  

 

 Desired Knowledge: 

 

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating Systems  
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including, but not limited to Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Azure Active Directory, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, etc.  
  • Advanced knowledge of computer and server hardware  
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server features including Active Directory, Remote Desktop Services, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Clustering Services, etc.  
  • Understanding of the OSI model  
  • Practical knowledge of Routers, Firewalls, Switches, and Wireless  

 

 Desired Technical Certifications: 

 

  • Cisco CCNA  
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Associate (Various Exams)  
  • Microsoft Azure Associate or Expert
  • Microsoft MCSA (MCSE Preferred)  
  • VMware VCA (VCP Preferred) 

 

  Measurements for Success:  

 

  • Strong positive client feedback  
  • Strong positive internal feedback from other technicians/engineers  
  • Demonstrates ability to with a team to work issues through completion with minimal escalation  
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor other technicians/engineers  
  • Demonstrate ability to become a Subject Matter Expert  
  • Meet deadlines and due dates on assigned tasks
