Job Description:

The Specialist III, Academic & Innovative will oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) administration to ensure security and compliance within the system as it connects to other organizational systems including the Student Information System (SIS). The Specialist III, Academic & Innovative will create and manage workflows and protocols to support automation, security, and consistency throughout the organization.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Configures and manages technical settings to ensure the LMS Systems are customized to meet the needs of end users across academic functions.
  • Oversees the installation of all system updates and upgrades, as well as tools and software integrations.
  • Manages LMS Administration tasks such as creating and copying courses, the child and master shell relationship, faculty access, and auditing.
  • Manages automation in user account creation, roles, access, and permissions for the LMS as it transfers from the Student Information System (SIS).
  • Interfaces with the SIS to ensure accurate information, term and course creation, and learner enrollment.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure course shell, term, and section creation occurs in tandem with key academic calendar dates.
  • Serves as a point of escalation for LMS data troubleshooting including grades, progress, submissions, basic integrations, and troubleshoots issues with core platform functionality.
  • Engages the use of CSV uploads and API calls to drive automation and standardization.
  • Assists in the integration of 3rd party tools and vendors through coordination with course builders and curriculum.
  • Develops automated processes to increase performance using Power Automate and Forms to automate processes.
  • Interfaces with Azure to manage SSO and MFA for the LMS and other 3rd party tools.
  • Participates in the successful implementation of other functional projects as they arise.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Information Technology or a related field, or certification equivalency is required.
  • General Technical Certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of LMS Systems and LTI Integrations experience is required.
  • A minimum of three years of diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in organizing, and coordinating workflows is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in organizing, and coordinating workflows is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ticketing systems, troubleshooting, and diagnosing is required.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating technical information and processes to lay audiences in a manner that is engaging and helpful is required.

All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will pay for travel and lodging accommodations.
