Sony Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Communications Manager to work out of our San Diego, CA offices and play a key role in the marketing communications planning and execution for Sony's Personal Entertainment division, specifically focusing on Headphones.
This position is dynamic and fast paced and helps define the go-to-market strategy, execution, and budget allocation for all of the advertising and promotional activities for the Personal Entertainment division, with a strong emphasis on digital marketing and retail marketing. This position will also brief the internal and external teams including media, messaging, web, retail, CRM & design on direction, and work closely with these experts to ensure activities and programs are on strategy, meet timelines and deliver on the agreed upon performance goals.
The Marketing Communications Manager will demonstrate competency in setting communications strategy, defining go-to-market plans, budget management and program performance reporting, including return on investment measures.
Critical to this role is the ability to formulate and present holistic marketing strategies, project manage various activities simultaneously, draft and maintain project briefs, drive cross-functional teams with clear direction, and measure post activation results. The role has a strong emphasis on digital marketing, and requires knowledge of digital marketing strategy and execution. The ideal candidate has experience project managing multiple marketing projects at once, with a track record of executing projects on time and in budget. The ideal candidate also has a pulse on what is trending in culture, music and social media.
Equally critical is the ability to learn the product market including target audience, usage scenarios, competitive landscape, technologies and their benefit to the consumer as well as future market trends. We have internal clients to whom we are ultimately responsible to, and the ability to thrive in an environment with different personality types is a must.
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS degree is required or equivalent
Must have 5 - 7 years related experience
Must have strong communication and presentation skills (verbal/written)
Attention to detail and ability to manage projects, including multiple supporting team members, on a tight timeline
Ability to understand product, the target consumer and the competitive market and craft unique multi-channel marketing strategies to reach them
Experience managing retail, CRM, digital, PR, media/advertising and social projects
Skills include competency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Forward thinking, anticipating challenges and solving for them before they happen
Analytical mindset and the ability to crunch data to determine what worked, what didn’t and how we improve
Have a passion for consumer electronics and/or music
Understand what is trending in culture and music
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $101,000 to $134,675. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), paid medical leave after three months of employment, a 401k plan with matching company contributions, vacation time, education assistance, student loan assistance program, eighty hours of paid sick leave time annually, and up to twelve weeks paid parental leave after six months of employment.
