MISSION
The Gift of Life Marrow Registry cures blood cancer through cellular therapy.
Position Overview
The Marketing Assistant will support the marketing team in planning, implementing, and monitoring campaigns to promote the organization’s mission, programs and events. This role plays an essential part in raising awareness and engagement with diverse audiences, including stem cell and marrow donors, volunteers and the community. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive and passionate about working in a nonprofit setting to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketing Support
- Help create and maintain marketing project calendars in Trello, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
- Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and develop content ideas aligned with organizational goals.
- Work closely with the marketing team and other departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for new initiatives.
2. Content Assistance
- Proofread content for newsletters, website updates, email marketing, social media posts and other digital and print communications.
- Assist in maintaining photo and video library including downloading files, renaming and sorting.
3. Social Media
- Assist Social Media Specialists by updating the organization’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) with relevant content, as needed.
- Engage with followers, as needed, by responding to comments and messages in a timely manner.
4. General Support
- Conduct market research to identify new promotional and marketing opportunities.
- Provide administrative support to the marketing team, including scheduling meetings and coordinating vendors
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 2-4 years in a marketing, communications and nonprofit setting is preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, Trello and marketing software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar) and photography.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Writing and editing experience, with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, content creation tools and social media management tools (e.g. SproutSocial).
- Basic knowledge of graphic design is a plus.
- Passion for nonprofit work and community service.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks and challenges as needed.
Physical Demands
This position is basically sedentary with some walking, standing, stooping, and lifting required. Occasional lifting of objects weighing in excess of 20 pounds.
