The Challenge
We're looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician to join our Lexington Construction Engineering team.
In this role, you will:
- Perform technical duties while supporting engineers and other professionals in construction inspection, materials testing, project surveying, and program/regulatory compliance
- Conduct inspections for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications, materials testing, review of plans, analysis of engineering-related data, and construction surveying/layout.
- Compose diaries of project operations, complete material reports, perform construction calculations, document pay records, and conduct data entry into computers/iPads
- Assist in all aspects of office engineering.
- Assist our Resident Engineer.
What You Bring
- Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
- Computer skills using laptops, iPads, and software.
- Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Knowledge of standards and specifications.
- Plan reading experience.
- Communication skills to communicate effectively with coworkers, contractors, and the public.
- Ability to work safely in an office and in outside environments with exposure to hazards on construction sites, including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction
- Fitness to perform moderate physical activity, including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
- Strength to lift 50 pounds.
- You apply a safety philosophy and safety program to all operations.
- Ability to work in varying weather and temperature conditions.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required to resolve project issues.
- Ability to safely drive a state vehicle.
- Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
