The Challenge

We're looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician to join our Lexington Construction Engineering team.

 

In this role, you will:

  1. Perform technical duties while supporting engineers and other professionals in construction inspection, materials testing, project surveying, and program/regulatory compliance
  2. Conduct inspections for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications, materials testing, review of plans, analysis of engineering-related data, and construction surveying/layout.
  3. Compose diaries of project operations, complete material reports, perform construction calculations, document pay records, and conduct data entry into computers/iPads
  4. Assist in all aspects of office engineering.
  5. Assist our Resident Engineer.

 

What You Bring

  1. Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
  2. Computer skills using laptops, iPads, and software.
  3. Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
  4. Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
  5. Knowledge of standards and specifications.
  6. Plan reading experience.
  7. Communication skills to communicate effectively with coworkers, contractors, and the public.
  8. Ability to work safely in an office and in outside environments with exposure to hazards on construction sites, including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction
  9. Fitness to perform moderate physical activity, including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
  10. Strength to lift 50 pounds.
  11. You apply a safety philosophy and safety program to all operations.
  12. Ability to work in varying weather and temperature conditions.
  13. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required to resolve project issues.
  14. Ability to safely drive a state vehicle.
  15. Safety toe shoes.

 

Education & Experience

  1. Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
  2. An equivalent combination of training and experience.
