Job Description:

The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas serves as the Catholic Church in Northeast Kansas, dedicated to our mission of growing as disciples of Jesus and making disciples for Jesus. As an integral member of the Office of Communications, the Digital Content Designer creates and manages compelling digital content that bridges communication between the Archdiocese and its clergy, parishes, schools, and parishioners. This role involves designing, updating, and overseeing digital assets for the Archdiocese’s website, email newsletters, social media, video, and other multimedia platforms. This position is full-time, will average 40 hours per week, with the opportunity for a flexible work schedule. This position is hybrid with work completed in the Chancery office and remotely.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Digital Content Creation – Design visually compelling graphics, banners, email newsletters, social media posts, short-form videos, and multimedia assets that align with our mission and communication goals.
  2. Web Content Management – Develop and update website content, design pages, and ensure a consistent user experience across digital platforms.
  3. SEO and Content Optimization – Apply SEO principles to digital content to improve search engine visibility and ensure optimal audience reach.
  4. Content Strategy and Planning – Collaborate with the Communications team to create and manage content calendars, ensuring timely and relevant updates across all digital channels.
  5. Cross-Platform Integration – Integrate digital assets with email marketing platforms, CRM, and social media tools to enhance content delivery and audience engagement.
  6. Analytics and Performance Tracking – Utilize web analytics tools to monitor the effectiveness of digital content and make data-driven optimizations.
  7. Ministerial Support - Provide digital and technical support to archdiocesan ministries, assisting with content updates, troubleshooting digital tools, and offering solutions to enhance communication effectiveness.

  1. Exercise sound judgment, make good decisions, and analyze issues.
  2. Use strong verbal and/or written communication skills to exchange information clearly and concisely and deliver concepts, opinions, and ideas professionally.

  4. Understand the connection between Archdiocesan goals and strategies and turn those into actionable plans and goals.
  5. Demonstrate ownership and initiative, and act with urgency to meet individual and organizational commitments.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in digital content design or a related role is preferred.
  2. A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital media, communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  3. A portfolio showcasing diverse digital content is required.
  4. Experience in design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and UX/UI design knowledge to enhance user experience across digital channels is preferred.
  5. Proficiency in CSS for designing and styling web content, with additional skills in HTML and JavaScript for creating and troubleshooting responsive, user-friendly digital experiences.
  6. Experience with content management systems (such as WordPress, Squarespace) and email marketing platforms; experience with Flocknote is a plus.
  7. Familiarity with performance tracking tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMRush, Moz, Hotjar) to analyze and report on digital content effectiveness.
  8. Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred.
