Job Description:

The Director of Choral Music has the primary responsibility for the development, coordination and supervision of the entire choral music program within the curricular and cocurricular life of the school. This person is responsible for teaching classes and producing at least one concert per semester for the school community.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Mission

  • Invest in the mission of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers through active mission and Catholic formation.
  • Provide exemplary personal and professional presence throughout the San Francisco and greater Bay Area community and actively promote SHC’s mission, philosophy, and brand among all current and future stakeholders.
  • Model integrity, spiritual focus, ethical behavior, fiscal responsibility and managerial excellence in support of the mission of SHC.
  • Actively participate in SHC’s strategic initiatives to strengthen meaningful diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging practices, especially strategies to support equitable learning, culturally responsive teaching, social emotional learning, and universal design for learning (as stipulated by the DEIB strategic plan adopted by SHC Board of Regents in 2021);

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversee administrative functions of choral program
  • Select music for classes, concerts, and events
  • Cooperatively collaborate on calendar of events
  • Collaborate on musical theater production
  • Oversee choral music personnel
  • Maintain choral music library
  • Plan and execute music field trips and tours
  • Oversee choral articulation with elementary schools
  • Coordinate concerts, rehearsals, stage set-up, PR, and programs
  • Prepare and maintain budgets for supplies, professional/technical services, and capital equipment
  • Provide student performances for various school and community events
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel;
  • Keep current and complete electronic grading and attendance records;
  • Work with the Academic Resource Specialist and/or counselors to accommodate students who have learning differences or who fall behind in work;
