Job Description:

Satellite Services, Inc. (SSI) has been a trusted provider of base operating support, facility operations, maintenance, and military family housing operations for over 42 years. SSI employs experienced personnel across the United States, focusing on cost-effective solutions to enhance facility performance and reduce operating costs.

 

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Vice President of Business Development at SSI. The VP of Business Development will be responsible for leading new business development, implementing business planning strategies, negotiating contracts, managing sales activities, and overseeing key account management.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

  • In-depth understanding of federal contracting, particularly within the defense and civilian industries.
  • Identify and vet potential partnership deals and opportunities.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies tailored to federal contracting in the defense and civilian sectors.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the business development team, fostering a results-driven and collaborative culture.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities aligned with SSI’s strategic growth initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in government agencies, defense contractors, and industry associations.
  • Conduct market intelligence to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential teaming partners.
  • Assess the viability of new markets and recommend strategic entry points.
  • Stay abreast of policy changes, budgetary trends, and legislative developments affecting federal contracting.
  • Lead the development of high-quality, compliant, and competitive proposals in response to government solicitations.
  • Collaborate with technical and subject matter experts to ensure a thorough understanding of customer requirements.
  • Develop operational management tools and provide training to appropriate staff.
  • Conduct annual contract assessments and budgets.
  • Develop capture and proposal managers.
  • Travel as needed to meet with customers and attend industry events.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to potential clients and partners.
  • Any and all other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

 

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • EXPERIENCE:
  •  Minimum of 10 years’ experience in revenue-generating roles (Business Development) with a demonstrated track record of successfully sourcing and closing deals.  
  • Proven success in securing and managing government contracts.
  • Experience in Government and non-Government Business Development.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering results in a small-team, fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

·        Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited university in related field (e.g. Business Management), or equivalent education and experience.

·        Valid Driver’s License

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

The work environment, while generally hazard free, may include some exposure to dust and varying temperatures. This work is primarily in an office environment where the ability to sit and stand for extended periods may be required. Sufficient mobility to conduct office work such as computer entry is required which includes finger and hand dexterity and fine coordination. Light to moderate physical effort is required while performing operations such as inspections and hands-on guidance and training. Requires occasional bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, kneeling, and ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate weight up to 25 lbs.

 

WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT  

This position is full- time (40 hours per week) and may include extended hours and work on weekends; requires 24/7 availability, and the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
