Position Summary

 

The Sr. Advisor Government Funding is a core member of the Fiscally Sponsored Projects team at Tides. The Sr. Advisor Government Funding will be responsible for supporting Tides and Tides’ partners who are interested in or are receiving government grants (federal, state, and local) by ensuring that these important partners receive the very best level of service delivery from Tides.

 

This person is a member of Tides’ interdepartmental team in the Office of Sponsorship. This person in this role serves as a project manager, communicator, and coordinator between departments working in support of partners fiscally sponsored by in Tides Center, including, but not limited to Finance and Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams. This role requires a deep knowledge of governmental contract and grant process, design, negotiation, management, and reporting.

 

This position is classified as part of the collective bargaining agreement (SEIU 1021).

 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

 

  • Participate and support Tides Center projects regarding Federal and State grant funding opportunities and other sources of targeted funding, grant and regulatory compliance overall.
  • Provide management, tracking, training, support, oversight, and recommendations over the entire award life-cycle; from pre-proposal to closeout, in administering contracts, grants, subgrants, and subcontracts.
  • Advise on award implementation issues that have contractual or business-related implications, providing options and recommendations to successfully mitigate risk and resolve issues.
  • Support effective award implementation by providing guidance, and interpreting terms and conditions.
  • Perform operational and financial assessments of Tides Center’s grants-related compliance, systems, processes, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
  • Project management including planning, overseeing, and implementing training and strategic advising in the areas of grant writing, compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Help develop and utilize technology and optimum practices to improve internal processes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the OMB Uniform Guidance, and other agency-specific guidelines, including news, trends, potential changes, and keep stakeholders apprised of their impact.
  • Collaborate consistently with various internal departments including Business Operations, Finance, and Legal, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Develops processes and materials for state grants or contracts, as needed.

  • High level of analytical skills, including the ability to work with and manipulate data from multiple sources, assimilate and present information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Manage in an environment of change, or ability to lead through adaptive change.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Google Drive, Salesforce, and NetSuite preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of government grants and contracts management / procurement processes and procedures, including the Uniform Guidance, and other federal agency-specific guidelines.
  • Experience accessing various federal government reporting systems as well as federal grant application sites.

 

Education/Work Experience

 

  • Demonstrated experience (10+ years) working to create nonprofit impact, in the areas of operations, project management, financial management and oversight, and grant/contract award application and reporting.
  • Knowledge and a minimum of 5 years of experience doing grants management for federal grants nonprofit federally and state-funded contracts and grants administration.
  • Experience in state and local government grants management preferred but not required.
  • Management Concepts certification or training preferred.
  • National Grants Management Association certification or training preferred.

Salary Range

 

Tides is committed to providing a competitive compensation package. The starting salary for this role ranges from $80,500 - $120,600 based on geographic location, years of experience, and ensuring pay equity within the organization. Important Information

 

Any Tides Network employee who wishes to use the office or travel to the office must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 and boosted.
