Job Description:

The Special Events Manager – Territorial Music is a key team member in the infrastructure of the Music Department. This person will be the main organizer for most events, ensuring that all individuals involved have all the information needed to come to an event. They will serve as the manager for the New York Staff Band and assist in the planning and carrying out of Unbound and Eastern Territory Staff Songster events. They will also assist in the managing of the New York Staff Band and USA East Music websites and social media channels.

 

The Special Events Manager reports to the Territorial Music Secretary.

 

  • Develop and maintain New York Staff Band schedule and oversee all the logistics and details for each engagement.
  • Schedule and organize band board meetings and communicate all information appropriate to the members of the band.
  • Serve as coordinator for Future All-Stars and Singing Stars develop new audition material each year and carry out the audition process, serve as the student liaison and organize committees for the weekend.
  • Serve as liaison for the USA Eastern Territory and participants in the Tournament of Roses Parade.
  • Coordinate application and orientation process along with event schedule for Summer Brass.
  • Assist in maintaining the New York Staff Band and Territorial Music Department website and social media platforms.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings, book location and attend where required.
  • Participate in or assist Territorial Music Ensembles as assigned by the Territorial Music Secretary (ETSS, NYSB, Unbound).
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 – 5 years related experience
  • Must be organized and be able to organize groups of people
  • Must be able to work in a high volume, fast paced office that often deals with multiple projects and deadlines
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work on their own to complete projects
  • Must be active, uniformed wearing Salvationist
  • Ability to travel during the week, evenings and weekends (30%)
