Backend Platform Engineer

About The Role

We're seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join our engineering team. In this role, you'll design, build, and maintain server-side applications and services that power the growing platform. The ideal candidate has strong experience with our core technologies and a passion for writing clean, maintainable code.

In This Role, You Will:

1. Design and implement scalable backend services using Node.js and Python
2. Build and optimize database schemas and queries in PostgreSQL
3. Deploy and manage applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and implement solutions
5. Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical planning
6. Write clean, well-tested, and documented code
7. Perform code reviews and mentor junior developers
8. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

You Might Thrive In This Role If You:

1. 4+ years of professional software development experience
2. Strong proficiency in Node.js and Python for backend development
3. Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
4. Hands-on experience with GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL)
5. Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
6. Understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
7. Knowledge of asynchronous programming patterns
8. Experience with version control systems (Git)
9. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Nice to Have:

1. Experience with TypeScript or strong typing systems
2. Familiarity with message queuing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
3. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
4. Knowledge of security best practices for web applications
5. Contributions to open-source projects
6. Experience with GraphQL
7. Agile/Scrum methodology experience
