Job Description:

We are seeking a Drupal Architect to join our team supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). The ideal candidate will have the proven ability to implement, configure and optimize enterprise scale Drupal platforms while ensuring compliance with federal regulations. This role requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to translate existing functional and technical requirements and capabilities into robust Drupal implementations.

Basic Requirements:

  1. Ability to successfully obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance designation.
  2. Must reside in and be able to perform work in the United States.
  3. Must have lived in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years.
  4. Bachelor’s degree required.
  5. 7+ years of experience in web development, primarily focused on Drupal.

Additional Qualifications:

  1. Advanced knowledge of Drupal architecture and modules
  2. Proven track record of architecting enterprise-scale Drupal implementations
  3. Hands-on experience with Drupal Workbench for content management, workflow configuration, and editorial moderation.

  4. Deep expertise in supporting technologies including:
  5. PHP development and modern practices
  6. Modern Drupal architecture and module development
  7. Configuration management and deployment strategies
  8. Drupal multisite architecture
  9. Complex content modeling and migrations
  10. Performance optimization and caching strategies
  11. Security best practices and hardening techniques
  12. API development and integration
  13. Automated testing and quality assurance
  14. DevOps practices and CI/CD implementation, ideally in AWS

  15. Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (AWS ECS/ECR)
  16. Proficiency with build tools and dependency management (Composer) as well as version control systems (Git) and workflows
  17. Experience with Front-end technologies (React, Angular, JavaScript, CSS)
  18. Expertise with database migrations and database optimization
  19. Drupal-based certifications preferred (e.g., Acquia)
  20. Strong understanding of information architecture and knowledge management principles
  21. Experience with government security requirements (FedRAMP, FISMA)

Responsibilities:

  1. Architect and lead complex Drupal implementations, focusing on enterprise-scale solutions and multi-site deployments
  2. Design and implement content architectures, taxonomies, and data models
  3. Support and drive technical strategies for Drupal development of customer modules and enterprise integration
  4. Provide technical oversight for security hardening and performance optimization
  5. Help guide Drupal development efforts, leveraging best practices and coding standards
  6. Support technical discovery workshops and solution architecture sessions
  7. Lead proof-of-concept development for complex technical requirements
  8. Review and optimize Drupal implementations and deployments
  9. Support CI/CD pipeline deployment strategies
  10. Mentor development teams and provide technical leadership
  11. Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing guidance on Drupal best practices for content creation and management.
  12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address program-specific platform needs

Public Trust Clearance:

This role requires the hired candidate to go through public trust clearance. A minimum of 3 years of stay in the U.S. within the last 5 years is required to be eligible to qualify for public trust clearance sponsorship.

Work Location:

We have open-collaboration offices in Leesburg, VA, Arlington, VA, and Baltimore, MD for those who may prefer to work on-site. However, Softrams, a Tria Federal Company, is a 100% remote-first team environment and works in the eastern time zone. Standard work hours are 9am ET to 5pm ET with flexibility around start and end times based on team needs.
