The part-time Coordinator, Social Media is responsible for developing, coordinating and guiding communities of interest, while attracting and encouraging conversation about and heightening visibility of Seminole State College’s Career and Technical Education programs. The Coordinator utilizes creative and dynamic strategies to enhance social media presence, communications, media relations, public relations, and event promotion for the department.
Essential Functions
- Authors and coordinates original content for the College Career and Technical Education programs’ various communications channels, including blogs, social media sites, review sites, news articles, newsletters, print materials, e-messaging and college-wide digital signage.
- Maintains and grows the College’s Career and Technical Education programs social media presence through a variety of posts, interactive engagements, and strategic approaches.
- Works independently and with the Deans, Program Managers and Directors and other College constituents to promote the integration of content and engage multiple communities of interest. Must be able to gauge the College’s visibility throughout communities of interest during non-traditional hours
- Uses knowledge and understanding of technology, search engine optimization, digital marketing, etc. to assist in evaluating, recommending and coordinating online advertising.
- Utilizes social media and other channels (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, etc.) to build relationships with journalists, writers, bloggers and other new media constituents to assure positive visibility for the College’s Career and Technical Education programs.
- Fosters dialogue between college constituents and communities of interest by monitoring social media channels, coordinating online feedback, and responding as the voice of the College’s Career and Technical Education programs.
- Ensures the regular monitoring of all social media channels associated with Seminole State to ensure the College’s social media channels are used in accordance with guidelines and codes of conduct and stay consistent with the College’s strategic communications plans.
- Anticipates social media communication needs for the department and the College, developing an understanding of technology and a body of knowledge that includes current and potential social media innovations and trends.
- Uses measurement tools such as Google Analytics, Klout, etc. to provide reports and continually improve on metrics of audience engagement through testing and new initiatives.
- Coordinates with the Marketing and Communications department in serving as a resource for college constituents, helping to create and build communities for official social media pages related to Seminole State College’s Career and Technical Education programs.
- Collaborates with Communications Team in promoting and communicating CTE program news and events through traditional and new media channels.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications or related field from an accredited institution.
- Three (3) years of experience in social media communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, communications or related field.
Desired Qualifications
- Interactive/Web writing experience, proper information linkage and optimum Web site navigation.
Knowledge, Abilities And Skills
- Knowledge of successful media and public relations strategies and practices.
- Working knowledge of Associated Press style.
- Excellent ability to gather and synthesize information into easily understandable prose.
- Proficient in building online interaction among members of a large-scale community.
- Ability to expertly proofread and edit materials created by others.
- Excellent organizational, project and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and in team environments, taking initiative, attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and effectively managing multiple projects.
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and directly with internal and external Seminole State constituents.
- Knowledge and understanding of technology, search engine optimization, digital marketing, and a willingness to learn the latest social media innovations.
- Expertise in MS Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop.
- Working knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and Web accessibility and usability.
- Knowledge of social media tools, social networking, and collaboration technologies.
- Working knowledge of photography and video scripting.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

- Works inside an office environment. May be able to work flexible hours.

Pay Benefits And Work Schedule
$21.66 Hourly up to 26 hours per week.
