This position is responsible for facilitating one or more scrum teams, as a servant leader, in an agile development environment. This position is responsible for advocating for agile principles within the team and organization, organizing scrum events within the sprint, and helping scrum teams commit and deliver on sprint goals. This position will assist teams to stay focused and embrace the process for sprints, identify and remove obstacles that are impeding progress, and protect the teams from outside distractions.
Functions:
- Manage one or more projects of high complexity (projects with high direct impact on other projects or overall IT/organizational strategy).
- Demonstrate advanced scrum proficiency.
- Mentor/coach Scrum Master I.
- Work with members of the scrum team to guide and coach them through the scrum framework.
- Organize and lead scrum ceremonies for assigned scrum teams.
- Facilitate daily standups (or the daily scrum) and scrum of scrums as needed.
- Help assigned teams meet the goals of the sprint.
- Participate in sprint reviews and capture feedback.
- Protect the team from over-committing and scope creep during iteration/sprint planning.
- Work with IT and company leadership to understand organizational strategy and priorities.
- Work in partnership with Product Owners to ensure the teams understand the priorities set by Product Development and that Product Owners understand the scale of work.
- Produce relevant charts, reports, dashboards, and roadmaps to communicate the progress, risks and issues related to the project.
- Ensure that cards / Jira tickets are up to date and the scrum tool, Jira software or otherwise, is working well.
- Work as the administrator of the scrum board.

- Build constructive working relationships with IT Staff and Product Owners via daily communication.
- Encourage helpful interactions with those outside the teams; discourage unhelpful ones.
- Manage conflict resolution amicably.
- Coach the organization in its adoption of agile principles.
- Foster a healthy sustainable pace and optimistic sense of urgency within the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Four years' experience as a Scrum Master or similar role required.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or comparable certification required.
- Servant leader with problem-solving and time-management skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a positive, energetic, and goal-oriented attitude required.
- Working knowledge of software technologies and methodologies, JIRA, MS Office, web applications, and collaboration tools - the technologies used by the team required.
- Experience in or ability to understand Property and Casualty insurance principles and business processes required.
- Awareness of and experience with common agile techniques: Scrum, Kanban, XP, User Stories, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Mobbing preferred.
- Willingness to value team productivity and recognition over personal accomplishment required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, travel to all organization offices (including in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Dakota) and travel to vendor work sites required.
- Ability to work in an office environment with moderate noise level, remain in a stationary position and operate a computer a majority of the time required.
- Ability to move throughout the office to access work materials and to move work materials weighing up to ten pounds daily required.
