Position Summary

NOTE: This is a remote role but the team works Pacific Standard Time hours and you will be expected to work 9:00 - 5:00 pm PST.


Solo Brands has an exciting opportunity for a Retention Marketing Manager who will report to the Sr. Director of Marketing and be responsible for developing and executing strategies that deepen customer relationships, increase lifetime value, and drive new and repeat purchases across the Solo Brands water sports division made up of Oru Kayaks and Isle Paddle Boards.


This role is both strategic and hands-on role, owning the retention marketing calendar, building email/SMS campaigns, and leveraging data to personalize the customer journey. The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with creative storytelling to deliver campaigns that resonate with our community of outdoor enthusiasts.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Own and manage the promotional calendar and all email/SMS marketing campaigns - from segmentation and content creation to testing, deployment, and reporting
  2. Forecast and drive retention revenue in partnership with the performance team.
  3. Build and optimize lifecycle campaigns and flows, including welcome series, post-purchase flows, win-backs, and loyalty initiatives.
  4. Analyze customer behavior and campaign performance to improve personalization, automation, and conversion
  5. Collaborate with creative, product, brand, ecommerce, and performance teams to align messaging across channels.
  6. Continuously test subject lines, creative, and offers to optimize engagement and KPIs.
  7. Stay current on retention and lifecycle marketing best practices, tools, and trends.


Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent experience
  2. 3+ years of experience in email/SMS or retention/lifecycle marketing, preferably in DTC eCommerce company.
  3. Hands-on experience with email/SMS platforms (Attentive preferred).
  4. HTML/email-building skills; design experience a plus.
  5. Familiarity with Shopify, Figma, Google Analytics, Looker, monday.com, and Slack a plus.
  6. Passion for water sports, outdoor adventure, or lifestyle brands.
  7. Proven copywriting skills and ability to adapt tone by audience.
  8. Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills and segmentation experience.
  9. Excellent project management skills; able to balance multiple priorities.
