Derflan is seeking a Senior Advertising Research Manager (Marketing Manager III) to support a large global technology client’s advertising organization.


This role sits at the intersection of advertising measurement, consumer insights, and business decision-making. You will lead the design, execution, and evolution of cross-channel and cross-category advertising research, including campaign tracking and pre-testing, and serve as a trusted research advisor to senior marketing, finance, and cross-functional partners.


The ideal candidate is a seasoned advertising researcher with deep experience across quantitative and qualitative methodologies, strong business judgment, and the confidence to influence decisions at scale.


Amazon experience required (FTE or Consultant)

Compensation: $181,000 annual base salary plus full benefits

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the design and execution of primary advertising research studies that generate actionable insights and recommendations
  2. Own cross-channel and cross-category campaign ad tracking and pre-testing programs
  3. Design and continuously improve research modules to increase rigor, scalability, and business impact
  4. Develop interview guides and surveys, conduct interviews as needed, and synthesize findings
  5. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and clearly communicate insights to non-research audiences
  6. Act as a senior research consultant to marketing, finance, and other business partners
  7. Guide stakeholders on framing the right business questions and interpreting research outputs
  8. Design nimble, scalable research mechanisms, tools, and processes
  9. Build and manage strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external research agencies
  10. Proactively identify emerging advertising research needs and opportunities


Basic Qualifications (Must Have)

  1. 8+ years of professional (non-internship) advertising or marketing research experience
  2. Amazon experience required (FTE or Consultant)
  3. Demonstrated experience leading ad effectiveness research across multiple countries or regions
  4. Deep hands-on experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  5. Prior experience at Amazon or Microsoft
  6. FTE or long-term contract/consulting experience accepted
  7. Proficiency with analytical tools such as Q, R, SPSS, SAS, STATA, or advanced Excel (Pivot Tables)
  8. B2B research experience within a large, matrixed organization
  9. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, statistics, or a related field


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Advanced quantitative expertise (e.g., regression analysis, factor analysis, segmentation, mixed-method studies)
  2. Master’s degree or higher in a related field
  3. Strong experience authoring research reports and executive-level readouts
  4. Familiarity with business intelligence tools and data modeling
  5. Experience working in international or cross-cultural environments
  6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  7. Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
