Job Description:

This position provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers and members. This position performs activities that promote the sale of all fuel products and appliances in addition to providing professional service and installation. This position is responsible for helping Blue Ridge Energy achieve its goals and objectives.

 

DUTIES

 

The primary role for this position is propane delivery. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  1. Provides customers with outstanding personal touch customer service.
  2. Performs installations of product tanks and equipment or other service requests as needed.
  3. Performs billing procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures using company's existing software and technology.
  4. Must follow company credit policy and procedures. May be required to lock a tank or pick up a tank for non-payment. Performs account collection activities for past due balances as needed.
  5. Performs preventative maintenance (i.e. checks oil and other fluid levels on a routine basis) on service vehicles.
  6. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the service vehicles in accordance with established company, state, and national guidelines, policies, regulations, and laws.
  7. Performs verifications on the accuracy of customer information (i.e. tank size, product type, serial number, etc.)
  8. Responds to service calls or out-of-product calls on a 24-7 basis and performs on-call duties as routinely assigned.
  9. Performs safety checks on company and customer equipment through visual examination before dispensing fuel products.
  10. Develops additional new business to fill in routes and works diligently to retain the company's customers.
  11. Acts as a customer advocate by passing along customer suggestions to his/her supervisor/management for consideration.
  12. Performs residential and commercial deliveries of propane and any other fuels or products provided by company.
  13. Keeps service vehicle stocked with needed equipment, tools, and supplies to perform job task.
  14. May purchase items within the purchasing policy of company.
  15. Participates in safety meetings, safety training, and all safety activities as required by company. Abides by all safety requirements and policies set forth by company and/or any government agency (city, county, or state) with oversight authority.
  16. Other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the supervisor. Duties to include, but are not limited to, all current and future business endeavors of company.


QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required in order to have a level of reasoning necessary to perform the record keeping and situation analysis required of the position. Must successfully complete Certified Employee Training Program classes and any other classes or training deemed necessary by company.

 

Job Knowledge and Skills: Should be experienced in propane and oil delivery. Must be able to keep accurate written records and write legibly. Must be capable of using computers and related technology. Must be able to orally communicate with customers on a one-on-one basis. Should be familiar with the market area geography where he/she is working. Must be customer-focused, personable, and energetic. A minimum of one (1) year "hands-on" experience preferred.

 

Must successfully complete defensive driving and other required driver safety courses. Forklift truck operator certified preferred. Trained in the proper use of knuckle boom/crane operations preferred.

 

Normal Work Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Hours may vary due to workload, deadline, training, emergencies, etc. Flexible hours may be required. Must be available for 24/7 on-call delivery.

 

Driver's License Requirement: Operates company vehicle as job requirement. A current, valid NC Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) is required with Hazmat, air brake, tank endorsements. Must have safe driving record (three years). Must pass, on a continuing basis, all required drug screens/tests. Must have current D.O.T. physical exam (continuously).

 

Overtime Status: This position is subject to the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended.
