Basic Functions
The Project Engineer assists and supports the Project Superintendent and Project Director on assigned projects. The position works directly with the site management and project controls teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of the project activities, and with the customer representative to ensure proper communication of daily activities, change orders, and project invoicing. The Project Engineer may be assigned multiple projects at a time and is expected to manage multiple tasks and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Project Management
- Work closely with the Project Superintendent on the assigned project(s) and provide all necessary support in coordination and external communication with clients or other corporate functions.
- Responsible for the development of the Project Execution Plan in collaboration with the General Superintendent, Project Control Lead and Project Director
- Hold regular meetings with the Project Superintendent and General Superintendent to ensure internal processes are followed on project control reporting, quality control, and administrative requirements.
- Review and understand contract documents, highlight any potential risks with mitigation plans, and participate in all project meetings.
- Assist Project Director in the implementation of the Project Management System and process.
- Responsible for obtaining all necessary project permits.
- Responsible for contract deliverables
- Responsible for change order management, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing change orders in coordination with the Project Superintendent and Project Controls
Project Controls
- Review project controls reports and project metrics.
- Responsible for preparation of weekly client project status reports, as required.
- Receive, review, forward and track status of project submittals.
- Responsible for developing and tracking Request for Information documents (RFI’s) and Change Order documents.
- Responsible for the preparations of subcontract documentation and submitting for Project Director approval.
- Responsible for project close-out documentation with proper client submittals and archiving in Expanse projects’ library.
- Responsible for hosting the after-action review meeting and update the lessons learned log.
- Preparation and tracking of payment milestones, subcontractor change orders, and owner change orders.
Scheduling
- Update construction schedule based on Project Superintendent input, material delivery forecast, and subcontractor schedule.
- Update and distribute the 3 Week Lookahead Schedule with the Project Superintendent
- Review project control reports and provide feedback to the Project Controls Lead and Project Superintendent on project progress.
- Develop detailed project construction schedule (Primavera) in cooperation with the Project Controls Lead and Project Superintendent
Operations
- Review, track and distribute Purchase Orders
Client Management
- Be the focal point of contact for the customer project manager for project execution and management.
- Attend client project meetings, as directed by Project Director and record meeting minutes.
- Formatting and distributing client meeting minutes.
Procurement
- Code vendor invoices and subcontractor payment applications and checking the same for accuracy.
- Expedite material requisitions through working with the Project Superintendent and supply chain.
- Review, track and distribute Purchase Orders for suppliers, subcontractors, and rentals.
QA/QC
- Responsible for the collection of red line and “as-built” drawings from the site team, and submission to the client
- Responsible for the collection of QC documents from the site team, and submission to the client
Safety
- Participate in incident investigation and reporting.
- Participate in safety meetings and management engagements.
- Promote Expanse safety culture in client meetings.
Qualifications
- Academic degree: Bachelor of Science – Construction Management
- Years of work experience: 0-5
- Skills required:
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Functions effectively as part of a team
- Dependability
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Time management skills and organizational skills
