How You’ll Make An Impact
Skip Hop, a consumer products company bringing ‘must haves made better’ to life, is seeking someone to support its Product Development Team. The Product Development Associate is a team expert in managing timelines and maintaining schedules utilizing our proprietary Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) system. They also provide various support functions for the team and manage development of certain items independently, under the guidance of Sr. Product Manager. Skip Hop is a family lifestyle brand, playing in a wide range of categories and materials. The ideal candidate will understand how products move from concept to market and have a background in hard and soft lines’ development. This candidate has a passion for product, is extremely detail-oriented and possesses a can-do, forward-looking mindset.
This role typical reports into Senior Manager, Product Development, and is based in our New York office in our hybrid work environment.
50%: Product Management
- Manage product category or piece-types in support of the product development team:
- Collaborate closely with our partners in Asia regarding ongoing products in development which may occur during our evening hours.
- Reviewing samples and assisting in creating/checking BOMs, specs and comment sheets
- Providing in-depth price analysis based on vendor quotations and partnering with the design team to take action.
- Partner closely with compliance and merchandising teams on safety and user evaluations.
30%: Lifecycle Management
- Manage scheduling, database tracking/management and communication of key issues and upcoming milestones:
- Own the set up and progress for new items in the PLM system.
- Run Milestone Output and update schedules as timelines change.
- Create and distribute weekly/monthly reports as needed.
- Work with cross-functional teams to gather information and ensure item accuracy in terms of duty rates/HTS codes, forecasts, final pricing, product information for retailer set-ups, etc.
20%: Admin Support and Special Projects
- Assist in tracking ongoing product updates, including creating monthly presentation decks for cross-functional meetings and keeping tracking tools up to date.
- Manage the team invoice submissions, coding, and payment tracking.
- Assist in all ad hoc administrative functions and organization.
Must Have
We’d Love to Hear from You if:
- BA/BS Degree from a 4-year accredited university
- 3+ year of experience in CPG product development
- Knowledge of design & manufacturing timelines
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Skills And Experience
- Children’s product experience
- PLM or database systems experience a plus
- Experience with Hard and Soft Goods
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator
- Compensation for this position ranges from $65,000 - $80,000 a year based on experience
