What you'll do
- Monitoring all available sources of data to assess the assigned area(s) performance against goals/targets with regards to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP)
- Identification and execution of countermeasures necessary to close any gaps to performance goals/targets for SQDIP
- Aiding manufacturing associates in process troubleshooting activities and/or escalation to appropriate resource(s)
- Responsible for creation, maintenance (triennial reviews) and revisions of all manufacturing related documentation, e.g. Standard Work Instructions, Set-up Sheets, Test Method Procedures, Corrective Methods, Visual Inspection Criteria, etc.
- Responsible for developing, planning, executing and reporting of continuous improvement projects that are in alignment with the principles of SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time Bound); target annualized savings of two to three times salary is desired
- Effective and efficient utilization of DBS tools, e.g. Problem Solving Process (PSP), Kaizen, 4E, Quality System Basics (QSB), etc.
- Strong engagement of manufacturing associates through involvement in ideation and execution of projects; acts as mentor and coach to guide associates through the improvement process and use of DBS tools
- Responsible for timely completion of assigned area(s) Product Occurrence Reports (POR) including containment, manufacturing batch review, failure mode analysis and countermeasure implementation; Non-conformance Reports (NCR); and Product Exceptions
- Teaming with internal and external customers to resolve any systemic quality issues related to media performance (CDT&R); aligning of media critical-to-quality (CTQs) metrics to customer's needs/expectations
- Represent the voice of manufacturing with regards to new product manufacturing readiness, i.e. monitoring and supplying feedback during the latter stages of development
- Partner with Research and Development (R&D) and Product Engineering (PE) to ensure a seamless transition of new products into manufacturing
Who you are
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Controls Engineering or other technically equivalent engineering field
- 3 to 5 years direct manufacturing experience
- Safety first mentality established through active participation in developing, maintaining and improving safety systems and culture within a manufacturing organization.
- Demonstrated ownership through a high level of accountability and delivering of meaningful results
- Must act with a sense of urgency in the timely completion of assigned tasks/projects
- Strong interpersonal skills which facilitates effective and efficient communication at all levels within the organization
- Strong analytical skills, e.g. use of Structured Problem Solving methodologies, Statistics, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), etc
- Experienced in the concepts and implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt strongly preferred
- Must be proficient in basic Microsoft suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Statistical Software such as JMP or Minitab strongly preferred
