Strategic Partnerships, Inc., (SPI), a Texas-based procurement consulting and research firm founded in Texas in 1995 by a former statewide office holder and other former government executives and public sector experts, has developed a national reputation for partnering public- and private-sector entities.
As part of its mission to remain the premier source of hard-to-come-by news related to the U.S. government marketplace, SPI will launch a web platform designed to be the go-to source for original, timely, breaking, and trustworthy reporting on every aspect of the U.S. government marketplace. The new site will launch in September.
We are looking for a managing editor who is responsible for running the day-to-day editorial operations, including assigning content to staff and freelance creators, editing content, posting stories to SPI’s platforms and managing production and personnel schedules. This full-time position will require working in our offices in Austin, Texas.
Duties:
· Manage all daily editorial operations, including assigning, editing, and working with content creators on daily and long-term assignments, ensuring content is accurate, relevant and available on time.
· Ensure content has relevant and necessary components, including photos, tags, hashtags and other metadata.
· Post content to platforms, including websites, email newsletters, social media and more.
· Help create, manage, maintain, and contribute to content calendar.
· Maintain a database of daily, weekly and long-term assignments to ensure content is published daily and on deadline.
· Manage creative team, including matching content to creators and knowing schedules, availability, work hours and workloads to ensure content creation is split evenly.
· Manage creators’ timesheets, schedules and other legal documents.
· Hire, coach and supervise personnel.
· Resolve issues as they arise.
Requirements and skills:
· Proven experience as managing editor or relevant role.
· Exceptional ability in copywriting and editing.
· Proficiency in English.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of government, public sector procurement, business, and public-private partnerships.
· Working knowledge of online platforms like WordPress and SEO concepts.
· Abilities in planning and coordinating people and operations.
· Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
· Outstanding communication and people abilities.
· BSc/BA in journalism or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
