Job Description:

The Logistic Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all import and export traffic by vessel, barge, rail, and truck as scheduled for Texas International Terminals (TxIT) with the terminal operations team and various agencies. Additionally, supporting and demonstrating the company’s core values of Safety and Environmental Stewardship, Integrity and Accountability in All Actions, Caring for Customers, Co-workers, Company and Community, Quality Focused through Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence. This position reports directly to the Logistics Supervisor or their designee.

 


Roles:

  • Vessel coordination: assist in marine coordination with vessel agents, barge companies and TxIT’s operations to ensure a seamless flow of product through the terminal to maximize operational efficiencies.
  • Rail coordination: assist in rail coordination with various class 1 railroads and TIT operations to optimize the available rail capacity.
  • Truck coordination: Oversee the Tweigh Truck Loading software and daily ops of truck loading
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service for our import and export customer.
  • Invoicing: Provide accurate and timely invoicing for all marine and rail activity to accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with pilots, vessel agents and barge companies to ensure arrival and departure of all vessels, Ocean-Going and Inland Barges to and from TIT docks are arranged and schedule is executed.
  • Communicates with contract marine construction companies while working in the basin of vessel/barge traffic.
  • Responsible for coordinating truck loading and ensuring all open orders are audited weekly and new orders are input into Tweigh.
  • Send TxIT management/Staff, Customers, Agents, Inspectors, and surveyors daily updates on each vessel and ocean-going barge scheduled to berth at TxIT in the next 7 days.
  • Ensure Pilots are set 12 hours prior to expected berthing or sailing slack water for all inbound and outbound vessels and ocean-going barges.
  • Review and verify all Facility Access Gate Lists supplied by agents and barge lines, prior to passing on to Security for access to Terminal
  • Track railcar and unit train throughput, including missing railcars, bad order railcars, GSV, and post-discharge ethanol railcar tracking
  • Track barge operations on Fleeting Dock Log, including tender time, all-fast, commence, complete, release, and sail time from terminal
  • Thorough knowledge of terminal Customer scheduling requirements.
  • Maintain and distribute customer inventories daily.
  • Vessel/Barge/Rail Invoicing
  • Resolves delivery problems.
  • Recommend updates and improvements to logistics supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 5+ years’ work experience in the maritime industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Must demonstrate an attention to detail and work for accuracy and proficiency
  • Must be highly motivated, self-starter who possesses strong interpersonal skills, capable of building strong positive relationships and possess strong analytical skills.

  • Specialized training and certifications maybe be required to completed and maintained.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license.
  • Must pass all pre-employment testing including a drug test, physical and background check.

 


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to perform work wearing PPE including, but not limited to rain gear, FRC, hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses, etc.
  • Respiratory protection fit-testing, pulmonary function testing, and fit for duty exam if required
  • Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, unassisted.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.

Position Details:

  • Shift work - must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Will be subject to call out.
  • Non-Exempt position.
