Job Description:

Pipeworks Studios is seeking an experienced, intermediate to senior Live Designer II to help drive the ongoing evolution of Prominence Poker, our stylish free-to-play poker experience built for console and PC. This designer will focus on economy balance, monetization design, live events, and data-informed iteration to keep players engaged and rewarded over the long term.

The ideal candidate combines creative systems thinking with strong analytical instincts, capable of turning player behavior insights into actionable design improvements. This role sits at the intersection of design, product, and analytics, ensuring that live systems feel fair, rewarding, and financially sustainable.

You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to design and tune live features, seasonal events, and store content that reinforce the core poker fantasy while supporting healthy long-term retention.


Key Responsibilities


  1. Design, implement, and tune live economy systems, including currencies, stores, rewards, and monetization loops.
  2. Collaborate with analytics and product partners to interpret telemetry and KPIs, identifying actionable opportunities for engagement and revenue growth.
  3. Define and maintain live event frameworks, seasonal structures, and cadence plans that encourage player return and spending.
  4. Author clear documentation and economy models to communicate feature intent and tuning logic.
  5. Partner with engineering and BI teams to ensure telemetry hooks are in place and reliable.
  6. Evaluate and iterate on reward balance, progression pacing, and offers based on data and community feedback.
  7. Maintain awareness of F2P best practices and trends in the social casino and live service space.
  8. Support the long-term sustainability of Prominence Poker by contributing to live strategy, retention planning, and player experience goals.
  9. Collaborate effectively across disciplines and time zones; occasional travel may be required for project needs.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


  1. Deep understanding of free-to-play economy and monetization design, including balance between progression, engagement, and spend motivation.
  2. Familiarity with business intelligence and telemetry practices, including KPI interpretation, retention metrics, and player segmentation.
  3. Comfort collaborating with analytics and product managers to guide data-driven design iteration.
  4. Game engine experience (Unreal Engine and Unity) preferred; familiarity with source control and in-engine implementation workflows.
  5. Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to express design intent clearly to cross-functional teams.
  6. Experience with Jira, Confluence, and spreadsheet modeling (Google Sheets, Excel).
  7. Curiosity and enthusiasm for poker, card games, or social casino experiences a strong plus.

Must Haves

  1. 4–6 years of professional experience in game design, preferably on a live service or F2P title.
  2. At least one shipped live or monetized title with meaningful contribution to economy or event systems.

Nice to haves

  1. Experience collaborating with BI/analytics teams; direct hands-on with dashboards or telemetry tools a plus.
  2. Unreal Engine experience preferred; Unity or proprietary tools acceptable.
  3. Familiarity with live casino, poker, or social games strongly preferred.
