The Laboratory Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting laboratory operations by undertaking various tasks such as equipment maintenance, glassware washing, reagent preparation, and inventory management. Working under the guidance of senior staff, they may also assist in special studies and research projects.
The primary duties include:
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor, ensuring effective communication with clients and colleagues.
- Prepare and stock laboratory and cleanroom supplies according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Prepare microanalysis tools as per established procedures and quality expectations.
- Requalify refractive index liquids as required following established procedures.
- Utilize and maintain small equipment such as balances, pH meters, and flow meters according to procedures and quality expectations.
- Wash glassware, prepare reagents, and supplies as directed by staff scientists for client project work.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping and maintenance duties as assigned.
- Document duties to meet MA QMS, ISO 17025, and cGxP requirements, making recommendations for compliance and efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities:
Depending on operational needs, Laboratory Assistants may be required to:
- Assist with sample preparation and analysis under the direction of staff scientists.
- Support special studies and research projects under the guidance of senior department or scientific staff.
- Provide data summaries as directed by staff scientists.
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of 2 years of college-level science or equivalent job experience.
Experience: Some experience in a laboratory environment is preferred. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office products is required.
