Job Description:

The Government Relations Coordinator I provides technical, administrative, and analytical support to CDCN’s Government Relations team. This role supports the team’s strategic initiatives through research, communication, scheduling, content creation, and event coordination. The Coordinator will assist in monitoring policy developments, managing internal and external communications, supporting advocacy efforts, and ensuring smooth logistical operations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a clear understanding of the legislative and political process.


JOB DUTIES


  1. Research key policy areas such as HCBS, LTSS, Medicaid, Medicare, labor relations, and healthcare policy
  2. Monitor and analyze legislative/regulatory developments at all government levels using tracking tools, hearings, and online resources
  3. Summarize findings and prepare briefings, hearing digests, event memos, updates, and action alerts
  4. Draft and edit internal and external communications, including talking points and advocacy materials
  5. Maintain accurate records and spreadsheets related to government relations activities
  6. Support content creation and updates for the organization’s government relations web page
  7. Attend and report on hearings, webinars, and policy meetings as needed
  8. Assist with grassroots advocacy, including social media and digital campaigns
  9. Coordinate logistics and materials for events such as advocacy days, webinars, and legislative meetings
  10. Schedule and support recurring and ad hoc meetings (agendas, minutes, follow-ups)
  11. Provide administrative support to the State Government Affairs team
  12. Contribute to special projects and perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS


  1. Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, business, urban planning, or a related field
  2. 0–5 years of experience in government relations, legislative affairs, political communications, public relations, or related fields
  3. Knowledge of local, state, and federal legislative and political processes
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  5. Highly organized with strong time management and attention to detail
  6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  8. Experience with social media and digital advocacy tools (preferred)
  9. Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 10%)
  10. Flexible availability, including evenings or weekends when needed
  11. Employees must provide their own reliable internet if working a remote/hybrid position
