Director of UX Design -Ecommerce

West Coast-based (will have to travel to Orange County, CA as needed)

Job Summary:

The Director of UX will be responsible for shaping and driving the overall user experience vision. This leader will build and scale a high-performing UX design team, partner with product, CX and cross functional stakeholders, and champion customer-first design across all digital touchpoints. The role requires both strategic vision and hands-on design leadership, with a focus on delivering intuitive, delightful, and accessible experiences for millions of global customers.

Job Expectations:

Leadership & Strategy

  1. Define and drive the long-term UX vision and strategy for company’s web and mobile platforms.
  2. Oversee the end-to end user experience on our global website for all platforms (desktop, mobile web and app)
  3. Build, mentor, and inspire a team of UX designers, researchers, and design managers.
  4. Advocate for design thinking and human-centered design practices across the organization.
  5. Help to build a strong design culture within the organization
  6. Get hands-on with projects when necessary to drive projects forward

Collaboration & Execution

  1. Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, CX and Marketing to align on goals, priorities, and execution.
  2. Translate business objectives into customer-centric design solutions that drive growth and retention.
  3. Establish and maintain scalable design systems, ensuring consistency across platforms.
  4. Oversee adoption of design software, tools, and workflows to maximize team efficiency and collaboration.

Innovation & Customer Experience

Use research, data, and insights to inform design decisions and continuously improve usability.

Stay ahead of industry trends, tools, and best practices to evolve company’s design capabilities.

Champion accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring products are usable by customers worldwide.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

  1. Experience with A/B testing
  2. Strong portfolio showcasing design leadership, strategy, and execution
  3. Experience leading a product focused high-performance design team
  4. Experience working with product, business stakeholders, and user researchers to drive strategy, vision, and execution
  5. Experience managing processes and teams in an agile/scrum environment
  6. Experience working with design systems and tools such as Figma
  7. A user-centered design approach and highly collaborative, low-ego approach to design
  8. Experience attracting, hiring and retaining top design talent

Equipment Knowledge:

  1. Experience with graphic development software (Photoshop, ImageReady, Illustrator etc.)
  2. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  3. Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred

Experience Requirements:

Generally, requires a minimum of twelve (12) years of design experience with a focus on eCommerce or related field. Five (5) plus years in a Supervisory role preferred.


Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in art, UI/UX Design or related field required, or equivalent work experience
