Netlify is seeking a self-driven, strategic Director, Digital Marketing, to join our Marketing team. You will have a critical role in helping us achieve our mission of reaching and engaging many more millions of developers, and building a better web. This is an opportunity to join a fast growing startup and build our Digital Marketing function from the ground up. You'll work closely with Product Marketing, Product, Growth, Sales, and the Data team to create cross Digital Marketing campaigns, delighting our users as they become successful on the Netlify platform. You will be a core member of our Marketing Team, and will report directly to the SVP, Marketing.
What you’ll do:
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of talented Marketers
- Through partnership with teams within Marketing and across the organization, design, deploy, and drive strategic multi-Digital marketing programs
- Own our Email and Social channels. Be responsible for setting the overall Marketing strategy for both in conjunction with Product marketing and demand generation initatives
- Run Marketing Operations
- Leverage data insights to understand key behaviors that correlate to bottom line business impact and distill those learnings to provide actionable recommendations that drive pipeline growth.
- Analyze and report on campaign performance to drive towards key performance indicators, making recommendations for performance and productivity optimizations. Be responsible for defining campaign specific success criteria
- Continuously run experiments to optimize campaign performance with a focus on messaging and personalization
- Provide regular updates to key stakeholders on the progress of each of your campaigns. Based on performance data, and customer feedback, report back to the business with insightful and actionable ideas to improve our product.
- Deliver a quarterly “State of Digital Marketing” report to leadership. Great news. You will define this!
Within 1 month, you'll:
- Develop a deep understanding of our users, buyers, and key personas - who they are, what's important to them, how to connect them to Netlify’s value via digital channels like email, social and in-app notifications.
- Understand our self-serve and sales assisted go to market motions; what metrics are important and how the Lifecycle Marketing role maps to outcomes.
- Audit our current Digital marketing activity and identify opportunities for improvement
- Propose a plan to reimagine our email marketing program
Within 3 months, you'll:
- Optimize our existing marketing campaigns to make a direct improvement on our key metrics.
- Build automated campaigns and nurture flows to scale impact across the customer journey
- Work with the sales team to develop campaigns that target key use cases across midmarket and Enterprise segments
- Take ownership of the cross Digital Marketing calendar.
- Define and deliver regular reporting on campaign success.
- Identify and implement experiments to drive growth.
Within 6 months, you'll:
- Develop a strategic roadmap, outlining goals, key focus areas, big bets, and resource needs as it relates to your integrated Digital Marketing focus.
- Partner with marketing operations to identify systems and tooling that will enable efficiency and scale for our email program.
- Create and deliver to Senior Leadership the quarterly “State of Digital Marketing” report.
- Work with the growth and sales teams to create and implement an ongoing experimentation program for email, in-app, and web.
What we’re looking for:
- 10+ years of Digital Marketing experience, ideally for a SaaS/PaaS business.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience
- Collaborative: You can work effectively across marketing, sales, and technical stakeholders to execute on your vision.
- Passion for learning and experimentation
- Analytical: You know what to measure, how to measure, and distill data into insights to enable marketing and sales teams.
- Technical proficiency: Understanding of the lifecycle and email marketing technology ecosystem with hands on experience with systems such as Hubspot, Segment,Salesforce, Clearbit, and Amplitude
- Systems thinker: You think beyond the short-term tactics and one-off projects to how we can build processes and programs that scale.
- Collaborative: You build strong relationships across teams by listening and following through on your commitments. You understand we can go further, together, if everyone is working toward the same goal. You have the ability to articulate strategy, empower, and partner closely with cross-functional teams, being able to artfully manage stakeholder expectations and navigate through competing priorities.
- Thoughtful: You understand how to balance driving business results with a customer first mindset, being considerate of the community and trust we’ve built with our users.
