Overview
The Communications Officer, Social Media will be responsible for supporting USCRI’s efforts to expand the organization’s visibility and enhance its reputation using social media channels and tools. Through effective social media strategies, creative storytelling, and writing of content, the Communications Officer will be a critical member of the Communications team. The ideal candidate will enhance brand awareness and drive social media traffic. This position will report to the Associate Director of Communications and work closely with the rest of the Communications team.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Develops marketing strategies that align with the organization’s communications goals, including defining KPIs and measuring campaign success;
- Develops and maintains the organization's social media calendar;
- Manages and executes campaigns across various digital channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and the USCRI website to increase USCRI’s visibility as a leader in this space;
- Focuses heavily on content creation – writing, creating, and posting content such as blogs, videos, graphics, and other updates – frequently collaborating with the Communications team and other departments;
- Conducts market research and analyzes trends to identify new opportunities and improve campaign performance;
- Stays up to date with emerging social media trends and technologies; and
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in social media marketing or related field, including a history of increasing audience engagement on social media platforms
- Experience using Hootsuite or similar tools to manage/schedule social media posts
- Excellent analytical skills and experience with social media analytics tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of individuals
- Graphic design skills necessary
- Video editing skills a plus
- Experience using WordPress to create and edit webpages a plus
- Experience working for a nonprofit organization and/or passion for the mission of USCRI
- Knowledge or experience in global humanitarian issues
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks at once
