Responsibilities: (included but not limited to)

  1. Prepare the church for special events or activities such as concerts, weddings and funerals.
  2. Ensure that all rooms scheduled and especially the rest rooms are properly cleaned and arranged and maintained for meetings and activities.
  3. Secure the church facility as required during and at the completion of scheduled hours.
  4. Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
  5. Clean, dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs and refill restroom dispensers to ensure adequate towels, toilet paper and soap.
  6. Perform the setup of facilities for meetings, classes, conferences, concerts and events.
  7. Move and arrange furniture, tables, chairs, equipment, supplies and tools, etc. on an as needed basis to accommodate church functions and activities.
  8. Will need sufficient physical strength to lift, carry and move furniture, equipment and supplies on a regular basis up to 50 lbs.  Climbing ladders is a requirement of this job.


Qualifications:

Demonstrate experience in general custodial and routine maintenance work using proper safety procedures. Demonstrated ability to work independently and recognizing  and taking initiative where needs are perceived. Must have flexibility in work schedule to accommodate church needs and to help out if there is inclement weather.  Will need interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, comprehension, with the ability to calculate, read, write and speak in order to follow directions and to accomplish the job requirements. Interact cooperatively with staff, members and visitors and present a neat, professional appearance.

It is expected that this employee will be familiar with and supportive of Highland’s Christian faith, vision and mission. This person will also be supportive of the total ministry of the Church through appropriate cooperation with other staff and church members and visitors. The intent is to create a collegial ministry to the congregation, preparing Highland members for the discipleship, equipping them to serve Jesus Christ.
