About The Waldorf School of Garden City:
The Waldorf School of Garden City (WSGC) is an independent college preparatory day school for children in Pre-Nursery through Twelfth Grade. Established in 1947, the ten-acre campus is located in the suburban village of Garden City, just 18 miles from midtown Manhattan. The School’s beautiful campus features playgrounds, gardens and playing fields bordered by a wooded “Nature Trail” which provides a visual and environmental boundary from the suburban houses and university buildings that surround us. The indoor facilities, all of which are connected, feature a historical main building entrance, a large gymnasium, a performance space, a modern library center, a fiber arts studio, three laboratories, a woodshop, music and practice rooms, a cafeteria, and a visual arts studio. The School also owns Camp Glen Brook, a 225 acre farm, in New Hampshire which is utilized as a part of our curriculum for grades 3-12. General Statement of Duties:
The Advancement Assistant supports the work of the Development and Communications offices by management and support for School Information System Platform Raiser’s Edge, supporting WSGC promotional activities and events, and other development and alumni activities as needed which includes some evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Director of Strategic Communications & Advancement and works closely with the Administrative Team and the community. The ideal candidate is focused, detail-oriented, service minded, positive and proficient with an ability to multi-task with accuracy.

  • Manage and support all functions of Raisers Edge (RE) with regards to:
  • Accurate and timely data updates and input of all donations and general information
  • Consistently updating Annual Fund names in RE
  • Coordinated reconciliation of all donations with the Business Office
  • Creation of Annual Report files for the annual magazine
  • Generation and management of reports and charts for:
  • Parent, Alumni, and Trustee giving
  • In-Honor and In-Memoriam including semi-annual acknowledgement cards
  • Assist with social media content, posting, and sending emails.
  • Oversee inventory and reorders for all stationery and spirit wear.
  • Responsible for leading merchandise sales at key events during the school year.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation and execution aspects of event coordination, correspondence, and outreach related to a wide variety of School activities.
  • Assisting the technology department as needed by providing support to parents, students, employees, and teachers with the various technological and online tools used by the School. Including: Microsoft 365, Google G-Suite, Zoom, Blackbaud LMS, and more.
  • Perform other administrative duties requested by the School Administrator, Directors of Admissions, or Associate Director of Development.

Qualification Requirements:

  • BA preferred and 1+ years of relevant professional office experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfort level with working in a small organization, performing a wide variety of functions, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and concentration
  • High level of proficiency in computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite) and database systems.
  • Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Raiser’s Edge/CRM database
