The Transportation Coordinator is quick-thinking, flexible, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities with a strong emphasis on organization and effective communication skills. This is a demanding and fast paced position requiring a proactive and positive thinker who is able to exercise good judgment, customer service and initiative in a team setting.
Coordinates bookings, works with other transportation and sales staff to provide product transportation services related to customer order fulfillment. Tracks and logs loadings/deliveries and proactively advises on any delays or issues. Supports LTL operations and truck claims.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following)
- Monitors loads confirmed, provides updates and proactively communicates any OTD issues.
- Develops and maintains vendors relationships and supports contract development and terms.
- Coordinates day-to-day route scheduling, with vendors to meet product transport requirements.
- Facilitates route optimization, scheduling, and program changes as necessary to meet the client needs.
- Serves as a point of contact for employees and vendors, responding to transportation related inquires, suggestions, and complaints in a prompt, responsive, and professional manner.
- Provides timely and friendly customer service options.
- Frequent working of extended days and/or weekends to support transportation duties.
Requirements:
- Ability to work a rotating evening and weekend shift schedule.
- Ability to work a be on-call, work extended days and holidays.
- Working knowledge of produce transportation industry services.

- Working knowledge of transportation management systems.
- Working knowledge of scheduling appointments and problem-solving customer PO numbers with customers on their websites.
- Ability to regularly work extended days and/or weekends to support transportation duties.
Education / Experience / Certifications
- Working experience in fresh produce transportation industry services (highly preferred).
- BA in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution, in a related field or equivalent years of experience (highly preferred).
- 4+ years of experience in transportation operations (required).
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, speaking on the phone, and working on a computer.
