Irrevo Staffing Solutions is seeking a part-time Sr. Contract Technical Writer to work with our esteemed client, Opaque Systems. The ideal candidate will excel in creating user guides, release notes, and other technical documentation, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for end users. This role involves addressing existing documentation issues, performing housekeeping tasks, and improving information architecture.

Objectives of this Role:
- Develop comprehensive documentation that meets Opaque Systems' organizational standards.
- Gain a deep understanding of products and services, translating complex information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
- Write user-friendly content tailored to Opaque Systems' customers, enhancing sales enablement and user onboarding.
- Create and maintain a detailed database of reference materials and system design specifications.
- Review and improve upon existing content, ensuring high quality and usability.
Responsibilities:
- Research, outline, write, and edit technical content, collaborating closely with various departments to understand goals and requirements.
- Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
- Create documentation using Markdown and render it in a polished format using MK Docs frameworks.
- Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit content, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage using Git and GitHub.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, maintaining a consistent voice across all documentation.
- Ensure documentation aligns with legal and organizational standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as an effective technical or content writer, with proven success in creating online and print materials.
- Competence in creating documentation using Markdown.
- Experience with MK Docs frameworks.
- Collaborative and flexible mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with completed tasks, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Willingness to voice potential risks, thoughts, and ideas based on experience.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
- Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience in working with Information Systems teams to improve user experience (e.g., design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using Git and GitHub.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with enterprise-facing assets and a background in security.
- Professional certification (e.g., Society for Technical Communication).
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or a relevant technical field.
- Technical background or engineering experience, which can compensate for years of experience.
- Experience and/or familiarity with Python.
