Job Description And Duties

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in the Employment Development Department's (EDD) Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Office(LIAO)? Legislative interactions have statewide impact spanning a broad range of economic and social groups including workers, benefit claimants, job seekers, employers, training agencies, labor organizations, local partners, and federal government entities.
Under the general direction of the LIAO Staff Services Manager III, the incumbent (Office Manager) assists the LIAO Office Chief with finalizing recommended positions and identifying potential issues and costs for pending legislation for the Department. The Office Manager also oversees LIAO's operations and work performed by two Staff Services Manager I (Specialists). In this capacity, the Office Manager trains staff on the legislative process, how to write a bill analysis, how to represent EDD before the Legislature and control agencies, and the operations of the office. Additionally, the Office Manager oversees the work performed by one Staff Services Manager I and five Constituent Services Analysts.
The Office Manager prepares all probationary reports, Individual Development Plans, and performs other managerial duties associated with overseeing an office.
This position is headquartered in Sacramento County and may by eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquartered office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
