Job Title: Software Engineer

Contract on W2

Location: 100% Remote: PST hours

Duration: 12 - 18 months

Part time: 20hr per week

Typical Day in the Role

• Purpose of the Team: The main function of a Software Engineer is to design, develop, implement, test, and maintain business and computer applications software or specialized utility programs, including mainframe and client/server applications, and major enhancements of existing systems

• Key projects:

→ The main focus for the candidate will be on projects involving Python, PyTorch (a machine learning tool), machine learning skills, and large language model skills.

→ Technical skill set required for the role rather than particular project assignments.

Candidate Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: 2 years of overall experience in the field.

• Degrees or certifications required: A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not a hard requirement; the focus is on relevant experience, and candidates without a degree will still be considered.

• Disqualifiers: Candidates with a lack of Python, PyTorch, and machine learning experience will not be eligible for the role.

• Best vs. Average:

→ Prior MS experience is also considered a nice-to-have

→ Large systems software design and development experience

→ Experience performing in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing with both new and legacy production systems

→ Experience in programming and experience with problem diagnosis and resolution

→ A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design

• Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on ability to work fast paced environment and quality of work.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience

1. Minimum 2 years experience with Python

2. Minimum 2 years experience with PyTorch

3. Minimum 2 years experience with Onnx

Hard Skills Assessments

• Expected Dates that Hard Skills Assessments will be scheduled: ASAP.

• Hard Skills Assessment Process: The assessment process will include 1- 2 rounds.

Default Job Responsibilities:

• Fine-tune and improve a variety of sophisticated software implementation projects

• Gather and analyze system requirements, document specifications, and develop software solutions to meet client needs and data requirements

• Analyze and review enhancement requests and specifications

• Implement system software and customize to client requirements

• Prepare the detailed software specifications and test plans

• Code new programs to the client’s specifications and create test data for testing

• Modify existing programs to new standards and conduct unit testing of developed programs

• Create migration packages for system testing, user testing, and implementation

• Provide quality assurance reviews

• Perform post-implementation validation of software and resolve any bugs found during testing
