The Part-time iOS Developer will play a key role in developing and maintaining the Chopt iOS app which offers our guests the ability to order ahead and earn rewards. This app currently has over 100K users and drives millions in revenue each year. As a member of the engineering team, you will contribute during the conceptualization of new features and lead their development and deployment.
This role requires a passion for mobile app performance, a user-first mindset, and strong technical and collaborative skills. The ideal candidate should be self-driven, detail-oriented, and excited to work in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Own all development of the Chopt iOS app, maintaining stability and enhancing customer experience
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineers to deliver seamless mobile solutions
- Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to industry best practices
- Contribute to improving mobile development processes and team workflows
- Stay current with new mobile technologies and trends to help drive product innovation
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience building and shipping native iOS applications using Swift
- Strong knowledge of iOS SDKs, Xcode, and mobile development lifecycles
- Experience working with RESTful APIs, authentication protocols, and real-time data synchronization
- Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools
- Familiarity with UIKit and understanding of modern iOS development trends
- Familiarity with iOS architecture components (e.g., MVVM, Combine, etc.)
- Experience publishing and maintaining apps in the Apple App Store
- Experience with Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, etc.)
- Experience with Apple frameworks such as CoreData
- Strong UI/UX sensibilities and ability to translate design into performant code
- Excellent communication skills; ability to convey technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Passion for clean code, scalability, and performance
Nice-to-have Qualifications
- Experience building apps for both iPhones and iPads
- Understanding of mobile accessibility standards
- Experience working with SQL-based and NoSQL databases
- A healthy appetite for salads is a plus
Compensation commensurate with experience - $8-10K per month for 20-25 hours per week
