The Truthful Tutors, an educational organization on Outschool, is currently seeking a part-time writing teacher to join our team. We are looking for a self-starter who is fun, engaging, experienced, and flexible. This fully remote role allows you to have a very flexible schedule.

As our writing tutor, you will primarily work with students aged 11-14, focusing on enhancing their essay writing skills. You should have online teaching experience with this age group, have a friendly and welcoming personality, and be able to easily redirect or change course in the classroom as needed.

Responsibilities

1. Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to enhance students' English writing skills.
2. Teach group class (3 hours a week for 3 weeks per summer camp, 3 hours a week for 12 weeks for semester classes, weekly group classes for ongoing classes) to groups up to 7 kids.
3. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to individual learning needs.
4. Utilize learning technology (Zoom, Canva, PowerPoint, etc.) to facilitate interactive learning experiences.
5. Manage classroom dynamics to create a positive and supportive environment.
6. Collaborate with parents and educators to track student progress and address challenges.
7. Foster literacy education through creative and effective teaching strategies.

Qualifications

1. 1-3 years of experience in tutoring and teaching English, with a strong emphasis on writing.
2. Ability to develop engaging curriculum and utilize learning technology effectively.
3. Technological skills to be able to run a classroom through Zoom and create engaging and fun writing classes.
4. Experience in classroom management and lesson planning, particularly with middle school children ages 11-14.
5. Familiarity with special education practices and diverse learning needs.
6. Able to pass a background check.
7. Fun, engaging, flexible, and patient teaching style
