Duties

3. Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations
4. Provide individualized tutoring and academic advising to support diverse learning needs, including special education and Montessori methods
5. Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning environment through classroom management techniques
6. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school-wide initiatives
7. Proofread student work for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to style guides such as AP style or the Chicago Manual of Style
8. Mentor students in journalism projects or creative writing assignments to enhance their communication skills and confidence

Experience

1. Proven classroom experience teaching English at the middle or high school level with a strong understanding of literacy education and language arts instruction
2. Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored to diverse student populations
3. Experience working with students in private school settings or special education environments is highly desirable
4. Familiarity with standardized testing procedures, research methods, and library services for educational purposes
5. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple classes, assessments, and extracurricular activities effectively
6. Knowledge of working with learning technology platforms and digital tools to enhance instruction
7. Background in journalism, creative writing, linguistics, or higher education teaching is advantageous
