Job Description:

NuVu’s Director of Student Support plays the lead role in ensuring the mental health and wellbeing of all students. This position requires a combination of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of adolescent development. The Director of Student Support works closely with staff, coaches and families to provide comprehensive support to students.

 

Student support

  • Provide individual support to students navigating social/emotional issues
  • Conduct observations to identify students in need of support
  • Develop and implement personalized support plans for students with diverse needs
  • Collaborate with coaches and administrators to address student concerns and implement interventions as needed
  • Serve as the primary liaison for parents with regard to student social/emotional issues
  • Lead a semester-long Health & Wellness seminar for students
  • Monitor student outcomes and make data-driven decisions to ensure that student needs are met
  • Document all notes on student wellbeing in a confidential and appropriate manner
  • Take the lead in mediating conflict and coordinate responses with colleagues
  • Work in collaboration with other members of the team to guide school culture
  • Provide advice and support around orientation programming

 

Coach support

  • Organize professional development opportunities to ensure that coaches are equipped to meet the various social/emotional needs of all students
  • Collaborate with coaches in developing curriculum that supports student wellbeing
  • Provide occasional studio coverage for coaches

 

QUALIFICATIONS

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field
  • At least three years of experience working with adolescents and families
  • Certification as a school counselor or mental health professional, license preferred (e.g., LMHC, LICSW)
  • Previous experience in school counseling or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to provide effective counseling services to adolescents
  • Excellent skills in communication and collaboration
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, mental health issues, and evidence-based counseling interventions
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic school environment and respond to situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Genuine joy around working with adolescents in a highly creative and adaptive environment
