GENERAL PURPOSE / POSITION MISSION

Continuous Improvement Specialist (CIS) is highly proficient in managing processes and utilizing a variety of skills such as project design, leadership and management in order to ensure process performance and development. The CIS is responsible for applying Lean Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence. This role consists of planning, scheduling and executing continuous improvement activities (such as Kaizen) in the Quality lab and operational facilities of Florida Brewery Inc. Continuous improvement includes standardization, review and update of process documents. Certification of methods, through validation of Corporate Lab, technical support/analytical research for area/customer requirements. Report writing and presentation of results.

Purposes / Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities of a Continuous Improvement Specialist

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste elimination and cost reduction.
  • Planning, facilitating and executing continuous improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Teach, lead and coach teams cross-functionally on Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology.
  • Be able to perform analysis according to pre-established methodology.
  • Comply and enforce compliance with the Inspection Sampling Plan, as well as the procedures and methodologies developed by Empresas Polar's Corporate department.

Work to continuously improve the processes, both in the Quality laboratory, as well as the production area, Brewhouse and Water Treatment Plant.Some core responsibilities of the Continuous Improvement Specialist:

  • Clearly define the objectives and scope of the program.
  • Evaluate and prioritize potential improvements based on quality, benefits and effort required.
  • Involve employees and gain commitment (e.g., in process management) for proactive change management.
  • Establish a clear and defined action plan.
  • Establish criteria for project success and prepare a solid statement of constraints/limiting factors.
  • Properly apply the principles of teamwork.
  • Form high performance teams that involve the parties.
  • Solve technical problems such as formulation, equipment, product, regulatory interpretation and resource availability.
  • Determine priorities and intervention indicators
  • Conduct a detailed analysis of the current situation that accurately describes the problems.
  • Specify results, outcome indicators and performance indicators.
  • Identify available resources (e.g., human, material and financial).
  • Define in detail the desired situation.
  • Clearly define the methodology to be used.
  • Accurately analyze options, including impact and feasibility.
  • Specify obstacles and ways to overcome them through continuous improvement.
  • Periodically monitor the implementation of the solutions to achieve the objectives and expected benefits.

Required/Desired Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field such as chemistry, biology, industrial engineering or any other related field.
  • Quality improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Continuous Improvement Manager Certification can demonstrate professionalism.
  • Bilingual - Spanish to be able to establish a direct link with Corporate, and English to be able to work as a team with the TFBI family.
  • Knowledge of the Brewing Process and Production of Carbonated Soft Drinks.
