Mission / Purpose:

The Content Writer (CW) reports to the Content Manager. The mission of the CW is to research, write, & optimize content for various platforms to:

  • Increase visibility & ranking in Google, YouTube, & other search engines
  • Drive & convert organic website traffic into leads & sales
  • Be positioned as the #1 authority in the outdoor kitchen industry

This will be achieved by writing engaging and original content while ensuring SEO best practices through all content creation. The position is responsible for conducting keyword research, using SEO tools, ensuring content quality, and writing content that resonates and converts our target audience. In addition, the CW must be a passionate brand storyteller with a journalist’s mindset, as well as an obsession for content performance. You should also possess the heart of a teacher with a love for learning, writing, and communication in all forms.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic Level of Wordpress Platform Knowledge
  • Basic Knowledge of SEO Principles & Technical SEO
  • Basic Knowledge of Various SEO Tools (SEMRush, Clearscope, SurferSEO, etc)
  • Proficiency in Slack, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Drive
  • Technically Savvy - Comfortable with Learning New Applications & Technology as Needed

Outcomes / Responsibilities:

  • Research, Write, Optimize, & Publish Engaging Blog Articles in Accordance with the Content Calendar
  • Refresh & Update Existing Content in Accordance with the Content Calendar
  • Interview Internal and / or External Subject Matter Experts for Various Content Pieces
  • Conduct Keyword Research & Other Deep Research Via Internal Systems to Acquire Needed Information for Optimizing Content Pieces
  • Write All Content with In-Article Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Via Internal Systems & Tools
  • Proofread & Edit Content for Clarity, Grammar, & Information Accuracy
  • Plan & Prioritize Multiple Projects in Accordance with the Editorial Calendar & Deadlines
  • Write Engaging, Entertaining, & Educational Video Scripts for YouTube Videos that flow Naturally & Encourage Viewer Retention
  • Create YouTube Video Descriptions & Tags that Accurately Describe the Video & Optimize for SEO
  • Generate Captivating YouTube Video Titles that Encourage High Click-Through Rates
  • Follow All Internal Editorial Processes
  • Support the Development of the Content Calendar by Pitching Topics, Themes, & Ideas
  • Stay Updated with Content Trends & Continue to Suggest Innovative Ideas for Enhancing Content on Various Mediums
  • Ensure All Content & Communication is in Alignment with the RTA Brand Maintaining Consistency in Terms of Style, Quality, & Tone
  • Stay on Top of the Outdoor Kitchen Industry and RTA’s Product / Core Customer
  • Other Projects / Tasks as Needed & Assigned

How Success will be Measured:

The CW is measured on the continual improvement of content produced as well as the increase in new prospects through the performance of that content.

  • Deadlines in Accordance with Content Calendar Met
  • Quality of Content (Measured by Tool Metrics & Amount of Peer Feedback)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
