Role Description Overview

The Content Manager will play a crucial role on the Visit Rapid City (VRC) team enhancing brand presence through destination storytelling with the goal of educating travelers, building awareness, engagement, and increasing brand loyalty. This role will develop and manage content across all VRC owned brands and channels including social media, email, blog, website content, and printed collateral.

The Content Manager embodies a flexible, creative, and entrepreneurial spirit, with a deep passion for the mission, vision, and values of VRC. This individual has a knack for crafting compelling narratives that drive meaningful engagement. The primary duty of the Content Manager is writing. Thus, it is important to have excellent written communication skills and love for the craft. Must be experienced in creating content for a target audience, understanding of SEO, Google Analytics, and social media management. The ideal candidate possesses strong time management skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and the capability to prioritize and meet business objectives while supporting change initiatives and continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a robust content marketing calendar and lead content development for all brands in the Visit Rapid City portfolio, including leisure, meetings, industry communication, the Rapid City Sports Commission, Downtown Rapid City and Main Street Square, and resident engagement
  2. Go-to copywriter for organization, leading and executing copywriting efforts for all organic social media, website, printed materials, email marketing, and brand campaigns
  3. Responsible for community management on social media pages for Visit Rapid City, Downtown Rapid City, and the Rapid City Sports Commission
  4. Main point of contact for agencies Visit Rapid City partners with for content development. Responsible for the direction, feedback, and approval of all final content created by contracted parties
  5. Help grow brand influence, loyalty, and awareness by maintaining a solid online presence
  6. Assist with Visit Rapid City’s public relations initiatives, including FAM itinerary creation and data management
  7. Prepare accurate monthly and/or quarterly reports on overall performance of social media channels and blog content, making regular changes and recommendations for optimizations
  8. Oversee and manage all contests, giveaways, and other special content projects
  9. Identify the latest trends and technologies within the industry to promote Rapid City as a destination

Role Requirements

Essential job functions required for this role are as follows:

  4. Ability to stand for extended periods of time

  8. Ability to drive a car and hold a valid driver’s license
  9. Ability to be in attendance on a daily basis and to arrive promptly for the start of the work day
  10. Ability to work flexible hours to adjust schedule to attend evening and weekend events, meetings, and conventions
  11. Ability to pass a drug test
  12. Ability to submit to a background/credit check

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
