Job Description:

Communications and Tech Support Associate

The Center for Global Health and Development (CGHD), chair of the Women’s Health and Economic Empowerment Network (WHEN) is seeking a Communications and Tech Support Associate to assume a part-time position at WHEN, with a potential performance-related advancement opportunity. The work will primarily be conducted remotely through tele-work, however, there may be travel opportunities in the future

About CGHD and WHEN:

WHEN’s mission is to help organizations achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes by scaling their existing efforts through innovative financing mechanisms. Despite significant efforts by low- and middle-income countries to improve women’s healthcare at a population level, substantial gaps in financing these policies remain.

WHEN was established to create a streamlined financial platform that aligns leaders from G7 government agencies, UN institutions, private sector partners, philanthropists, and other stakeholders with a shared goal: improving women’s access to capital and healthcare worldwide. WHEN identifies, leverages, and connects projects to alternative funding sources, including private sector finance, angel investors, development financial institutions, venture capital firms, and philanthropists.

As the Secretariat of WHEN, CGHD’s mission is to help organizations create measurable impact by scaling existing efforts, forming task forces, developing blended financing platforms, and advancing strategic initiatives. CGHD operates across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States to build socially focused, financially sustainable, and science-backed programs.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Communications and Tech Support Associate to join the WHEN team. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping WHEN’s digital presence, crafting compelling content, and engaging with stakeholders via social media and other communication platforms. This role will involve developing and executing a digital strategy to expand WHEN’s network, elevate thought leadership, and support strategic engagements with senior leaders in government, private sector, foundations, multi-lateral organizations, and the investment community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage WHEN’s social media strategy, including content creation, audience engagement, and analytics tracking across platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  2. Draft and edit communications materials, including blog posts, press releases, newsletters, concept notes, policy proposals, and slide decks.
  3. Design visual and multimedia content, including graphics, infographics, and videos, to enhance engagement.
  4. Support digital outreach efforts to promote WHEN’s initiatives and events to stakeholders, partners, and funders, and assist in the planning and promotion of workshops, roundtables, and online events, including managing logistics and developing presentation materials.
  5. Conduct comprehensive research on key topics in global health, finance, and development to inform digital content and policy discussions.
  6. Monitor trends, current events, and policy discussions related to women’s health, economic empowerment, and sustainable finance, providing proactive insights and recommendations.
  7. Manage and update WHEN’s website, ensuring timely and accurate content.
  8. Participate in strategic meetings with partners and provide communications support for external engagements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Strong commitment to addressing global health and economic development challenges.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, international affairs, public policy, or a related field.
  3. 2+ years of experience in digital communications, social media management, content creation, or public relations.
  4. Exceptional writing and editing skills with demonstrated experience producing engaging content (a writing sample may be requested).
  5. Proficiency in social media platforms, website management (WordPress, Squarespace, or similar), and email marketing tools.
  6. Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into accessible content.
  7. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and adapt to evolving priorities.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), G-Suite, and Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
