Position: AV Technology Classroom Technician

Location: Onsite (School) in Philadelphia

Type: Full-time, Permanent

 

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced AV Technology Classroom Technician to join our educational institution's support team. The ideal candidate will have a background in servicing classroom and video conference AV technology and performing light IT work related to AV systems. Familiarity with Blackboard Collaborate or similar educational technologies is essential. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and previous experience working as an AV/Classroom Technician at a school.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Classroom AV Support:
  • Install, configure, and maintain AV equipment in classrooms, including projectors, interactive whiteboards, sound systems, and video conferencing tools.
  • Provide immediate technical support for AV issues during classes and events to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Video Conferencing:
  • Set up and manage video conferencing equipment and software, ensuring reliable connectivity and high-quality audio and video.
  • Support virtual classroom environments using Blackboard Collaborate or similar technologies.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Perform regular maintenance and updates on AV equipment and software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve AV and light IT issues promptly to maintain classroom technology functionality.
  • Technical Assistance:
  • Provide training and support to faculty and staff on the use of classroom AV technology and video conferencing tools.
  • Create and maintain user guides and documentation for AV systems and procedures.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Manage inventory of AV equipment and supplies, ensuring availability and readiness for classroom needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors for repairs, replacements, and new equipment procurement.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with the IT department to integrate AV systems with broader school IT infrastructure.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to understand and address their AV technology needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Audio-Visual Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an AV/Classroom Technician in a school environment is required.
  • Proven experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining AV equipment and systems in educational settings.
  • Skills:
  • Strong technical skills in operating and troubleshooting AV systems, including projectors, sound systems, and video conferencing tools.
  • Familiarity with Blackboard Collaborate or similar educational technologies.
  • Basic IT skills related to network connectivity, device configuration, and system integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to technical issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Certifications (preferred):
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or similar AV technology certification.
  • Any relevant IT certifications are a plus.
