Job Description:
Louisiana State University's Marketing and Communications team works to advance LSU's mission and reputation by serving as the university's brand steward, communicating key messages to internal and external audiences, and showcasing the achievements of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
We work collaboratively with our partners across the campus and the LSU System to ensure that messaging and branding are consistent, targeted, and accurate. Our goal is to provide the communication strategies and services to support and advance all of LSU’s campuses and heighten LSU’s national and international standing.
As such, we are a very active outbound research call center.
As an entry-level Website Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining web applications and websites in the university’s content management. You will work closely with our design and development teams to implement new features, optimize performance, and ensure a seamless user experience.
Job Responsibilities:
50%: Website Development: Build and maintain responsive websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web development technologies.
Collaboration: Work with designers, project managers, and other developers to bring web projects to life.
Testing and Debugging: Test websites and web applications to identify and fix any issues.
50%: Optimization: Optimize websites for maximum speed and scalability.
Maintenance: Regularly update websites to ensure security, performance, and compatibility.
Learning and Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest web development trends and technologies.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
This position may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with some related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
1 year of related experience (can include student employment/internship)
Specific Experience:
Experience with back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, PHP, Python).
Experience with XML-related technologies (e.g., XML, XSLT, XSL).
Knowledge of databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB).
Experience with responsive and mobile-first design.
Familiarity with web performance optimization techniques.
