The Role in Brief:
Technical Accounting Manager
Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Reporting, this person will support several key finance functions including consolidation, purchase accounting, and revenue recognition.
Role based in Washington, DC. or Richmond, VA.
Primary Responsibilities:
Research, analyze, and formally document technical accounting issues and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
Provide accounting guidance with respect to aligning accounting policies of acquired companies
Review significant customer arrangements and contracts to conclude the appropriate revenue recognition treatment and to identify any issues
Assist sales, legal, and pricing teams in structuring and negotiating deals in order to ensure proper revenue recognition
Prepare quarterly memos documenting the Companys position on complex accounting issues
Support the Senior Director of Financial Reporting in maintaining the Companys financial reporting systems and policies
Stay current on GAAP standards related to revenues and particularly the guidance specific to the SaaS industry, in order to appropriately apply the Companys accounting policies
Interface with internal and external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit
Other miscellaneous Finance projects as necessary
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting and an active professional certification (CPA)
Must have solid background in U.S. GAAP principles
Minimum 6 years of work experience
Experience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and database applications
Ability to research technical issues and create or review documentation/memos supporting accounting and internal controls conclusions
Discretion in dealing with confidential material
Able to think clearly and reach well founded conclusions and articulate ideas crisply and concisely
Able to work under tight timelines and reprioritize work as needed
Ability to work independently
Ideal Qualifications:
Practical experience in public accounting and/or technical accounting
Excellent technical interpretation and verbal communication skills
Desire to work in a team environment
High level of commitment and integrity
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
