Position: Marketing & Tourism Coordinator
Reports To: President & CEO
Hours: Part-Time or Freelance

Position Purpose: The Marketing & Tourism Coordinator is responsible for marketing all of Indianola and its’ assets, as well as the Indianola Chamber. This could include, but is not limited to working with groups who desire to have events within the Indianola, managing our Experience Indianola website and campaigns, working with our local tourism assets in the community in developing compelling offerings for visitors, managing the relationships with tourism partners and their initiatives, and being the lead content creator and strategy manager for social media. Individual must be self-motivated, forward-thinking, creative, results-oriented with a positive outlook and focused on high quality support. Additionally, must possess excellent time management skills; strategic thinking; and be comfortable dealing with a broad spectrum of people.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implementing comprehensive strategy for Experience Indianola tourism marketing campaign and placements, including development of content and communications for the tourism brand.
  • Developing content for Indianola Chamber membership marketing, social media, and event promotion.
  • Main coordinator of Tourism and Chamber marketing, collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and implement marketing campaigns
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities
  • Create and optimize digital marketing campaigns across various channels
  • Provide copywriting for marketing materials, including website content, emails, and social media posts
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance metrics to optimize marketing efforts
  • Attendance and involvement in appropriate Indianola Chamber and community events, as well as lead the marketing and promotion of these events for the Experience Indianola brand.
  • Support, as needed, in the administrative day to day operations of the Chamber of Commerce, such as answering phones, assisting visitors, etc. as needed.
  • All jobs and assignments as an employee of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce are not inherently defined and may be subject to change over the term of your employment at the sole discretion of the President & CEO.
  • Work with committees to market and help implement successful events and programs.
  • Travel for events, programs, and professional development opportunities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent graphic design, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of performance marketing principles and best practices
  • Proficiency in conducting market research and analyzing data
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva for design purposes
  • Experience creating compelling reels and video content
  • Knowledge of digital marketing strategies and tactics
  • Excellent copywriting skills with attention to detail
  • Very organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain and high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Chamber mission, vision, and purpose
  • Willingness to learn

Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • Graphic design or marketing degree or training
  • Tourism or travel industry experience desired
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience related to the position
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Able to lift 20-40 lbs
  • Knowledgeable with creative development platforms such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of video and social media video tools
  • Management and experience with social media outlets including Facebook and Instagram
  • Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance

Work Environment and Physical Demands
A general office environment. Close mental and visual attention. May require working in a seated and/or standing position for long periods of time using hand-wrist motions to operate a computer keyboard. Moderate levels of stress may occur. May require the movement of supplies from one location to another, especially for events.

This position may require work outside the normal business hours.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
