Job Summary:
The Manager of Game Presentation and Events is responsible for assisting the Director of Game Presentation and Events in the direction and production of all LA Galaxy/LA Galaxy II home games, Club events, and other AEG affiliated events. Essential Functions Plan, manage, and execute LA Galaxy and AEG affiliated events. This includes, but is not limited to, the production and operations of all LA Galaxy, LA Galaxy II pre-season games, regular season games, playoff games, non-MLS tournaments (i.e. Coachella Valley Invitational, Soccer Champions Tour, Campeon de Campeones, etc.), off-site home games, Season Ticket Member events, watch parties and other targeted games and events- plus, in-game special ceremonies, theme nights, etc.
Create and develop interactive ideas and in-game promotions that will continually improve the Galaxy game experience, with special emphasis on experiences attached to our global partnership brands. Develop sellable promotional opportunities (including, but not limited to halftime promotions, interactive contests, and other in-game ideas) that benefit our fans and corporate sales team. Serve as the project manager/ producer on events, overseeing the entire pre-event, day of event, and post event process.
Planning to include but not limited to the brainstorming and/ or conceptualizing process, contract negotiation, budget management, venue preparation, entertainment, partner activation, vendor approvals, vendor walk-throughs, cross-department collaborating, managing load-in/out, timelines / run of show, staffing and other needs identified by each unique event.
Lead operation meetings to discuss upcoming events with department heads to ensure the proper execution of all events. Serve as a liaison to senior executives to provide on-going project updates. Develop strong vendor relationships that support game day and event initiatives, including existing pyrotechnic partners, Soccer Fest vendors, creative agencies and entertainment talent, DJ's, etc.
Work with additional Game Presentation and Event management to supervise and train department part-time staff including Field Operations Crew, Stage Managers and Galaxy Star Squad Members. Assist with developing and managing department budgets. Consistently review expenses and revenues from events to find strategic avenues to cut cost and/ or increase revenue. Provide regular communication with leadership teams on costs and potential cost control mechanisms that can be introduced.
Required Qualifications BA/BS Degree (4-year) 4-6 years Related experience in game operations 2-4 years Experience working in Game Entertainment and/or Operations, with specific experience directing games and managing a creative team preferred. Prior supervisory experience Experience with a professional sports team or event planning agency is a plus Proactive, highly organized, and resourceful with great attention to details
Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize workload efficiently and quickly Must have a strong command of reasoned, measured decision-making based upon analyzing the pros and cons of each potential decision to be made Must be able to anticipate and identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption; solutions-based mindset Ability to multi-task, meet tight timelines, and work effectively in a high pressure and fast-paced environment Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information
Must be creative, idea-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative team-based environment Must be technically proficient with MS Office. Professional proficiency in popular social media platforms is a plus Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management, staff, etc. Flexible schedule to allow commitment to all LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy II home games during the season, including some weekends, evenings, and some holidays to meet game/event needs
