Your Impact:
Experienced and dynamic individual to serve in a critical new role as Director of Fund Development. This position requires a passion for our mission of building and repairing affordable housing. Reporting to the Chief Advancement and Marketing Officer, the Director of Fund Development will lead fundraising activities to support the organization’s strategic plan and fundraising goals to grow revenue.
The Director of Fund Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the organization’s fundraising initiatives including the major gifts program, home sponsorships, and individual giving campaigns. The Director of Fund Development must be a seasoned grant writer who is confident, collaborative, hands-on, results-oriented, and can articulate clear and compelling cases for support that ensures the growth and vitality of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento. The successful candidate will enjoy meeting face-to-face with donors to share this exciting work and solicit, close and steward financial support, while motivating and managing a team of staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
· Create and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to achieve fundraising goals to support the organization’s strategic plan to ensure steady growth and sustainability of the organization over the next 3-5 years
· Supervise a team of 4+, providing leadership on building and growing major, annual, corporate, and foundation giving. Lead in identifying new funding and grant resources
· Oversee the grants program, secure funding that supports the organization’s strategic plan, including research, relationship building, proposal writing, tracking, and reporting requirements
· Personally develop and manage a portfolio of 100+ individual donors and prospects with a capacity of $1,000+ gift potential toward an annual fundraising goal of $850,000
· Cultivate new sources of revenue by creatively and strategically expanding the existing donor base with an increased focus on major gifts, grant writing, and planned giving
· Create an individualized cultivation plan for major donors that leads to successfully retaining or upgrading donors and gifts as appropriate using the annual event and sponsorship opportunities as incentives
· Demonstrate and maintain a keen sense of curiosity for prospects and donors, seek to crack the code on what compels each donor to give substantially by asking the right questions, and be able to personally adapt as needed to meet the interests of prospects and donors
· Work directly with Board members, former Board members, and donors who collaborate with us as fundraising volunteers. Provide strategies, plans, and materials to support their efforts to cultivate and solicit prospects/donors on our behalf. Provide opportunities for engagement throughout the year
· Refine and maintain our donor database and use data analysis to inform fundraising strategies and decision-making
· Provide support to the Individual Giving Manager with annual fund tasks such as drafting or editing appeal letters and assisting with the Collaborative Operating Model (COM) direct marketing program by attending meetings or reviewing donor lists
· Oversee creation of content for potential planned giving donors, and work with the team at HFHI to implement a planned giving strategy for the affiliate
· Oversee stewardship tasks, such as writing thank-you notes and making calls, as well as editing content for gift receipt letters. This includes timely execution of donor acknowledgments and fulfillment of donor benefits
· Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to fundraising and development activities
· Stay current on best practices and trends in nonprofit fundraising and development and implement new ideas and strategies as appropriate
· As a key Development Team member, contribute to our organizational health through enthusiastic collaboration, leadership and personal integrity. Maintain a “team first” outlook, supporting the success of the team and the mission in attitude, ideas, and actions; lead by example and with active, creative input for growing and improving the organization

Professional Qualifications
· A passionate commitment to working for a fast-paced, progressive organization committed to the goals of affordable housing
· Proven experience building and growing a comprehensive fundraising program with a particular focus on major, annual, corporate, and foundation giving and achieving annual fundraising goals in excess of $2M+ annually
· Ability to engage staff and Board members in donor visits, and to earn and maintain their confidence
· A demonstrated track record of building relationships and closing major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations
· Superior presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including donors, Board members, and leadership staff
· Excellent organizational skills required. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, be detail-oriented, and work under pressure of multiple and subsequent deadlines
· Proficiency using data to establish a robust donor pipeline and strategy for sustainable growth
· Superior oral and written communication skills and strategic listening skills to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment, and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
· Mastery of business terminology, financial matters and the ethical, legal, and tax-related issues regarding the solicitation, transfer, and management of charitable gifts
· Excellent experience building and managing strong, positive relationships with stakeholders including underrepresented and/or diverse communities
Schedule
· Monday – Friday, 8:00a-4:30p with mornings, evenings, and weekends as necessary for special events
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to do desk and computer work for extended periods of time
· Must be able to work outdoors in various temperatures and weather during events and while capturing content at build sites or in the ReStore
Licenses and/or Certificates
· Candidates must possess a valid California driver's license
· CPR and First Aid certification will be required (at company expense if not already certified)

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
