Job Description:

We are looking for an Assistant Commissioning Manager to lead a multi-disciplined commissioning team responsible for bringing new Renewable Energy Assets online.

 

Note: This is a remote position, requiring travel to project sites for commissioning activities.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Project Commissioning Administration:

  • Lead onsite commissioning efforts with a focus on mechanical systems and piping.
  • Oversee a multi-disciplined commissioning team of engineers and technicians.
  • Conduct site walkdowns with contractors and Ameresco construction management personnel to assess equipment readiness for turnover.
  • Develop and tailor standardized procedures for asset commissioning specific to each project site, including project-specific documentation for turnover to operations.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of commissioning procedures, maintaining a “Lessons Learned” document for each project.
  • Ensure adherence to Ameresco commissioning standards and proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with the construction manager to define turnover schedules for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Work with the Engineering team to develop a documented purge plan for all process piping, vessels, and skids.
  • Organize and assemble the documentation turnover package, including commissioning documentation, pressure test documentation, O&M manuals, etc.

Commissioning Field Work:

  • Maintain Ameresco’s strong safety culture during plant commissioning, ensuring all team members and contractors adhere to site safety protocols.
  • Witness and execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for control panels, skid-based equipment, and other project assets at vendor shops, developing detailed deficiency lists for vendors.
  • Participate in equipment pre-commissioning checks in the field to solve problems and maintain the commissioning schedule.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for the site during the commissioning phase, leading daily meetings and driving daily priorities and schedules.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Engineering team and other key team members.
  • Provide technical support for mechanical troubleshooting, procuring outside resources as needed to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Maintain a commissioning punch list to ensure all irregularities and issues are prioritized and addressed promptly.
  • Procure necessary spare parts, tools, and equipment required for commissioning activities.
  • Administer plant performance testing procedures, developed by the Engineering and Operations teams, to verify that all plant equipment and processes meet performance criteria.
